Annecy city proper has 51,000 inhabitants for an urban area of 135,000 inhabitants and a metropolitan area of 190,000 inhabitants it is the capital and main city of Haute de Savoie departement.

My high school French textbook was accompanied by a series of short little sit-com type shows that took place in Annecy. All I really took away from that class was that Annecy is gorgeous and I need to make my way out there sometime. This thread did nothing but corroborate and, now that my Frenchis finally passable, conditions are ripe.

Annecy is a beautiful wealthy city, like many cities in the french Alps, the hypercenter is historical but everything outside were build after the WWII
This city was really active.
