Never seen these perspectives before. Definitely Calgary's densest areas. Nice and lush too!

Thanks for posting.

Union square crane looks so tall.
Is strategic on 4th the one with the yellow crane in the foreground, pic 7?

Very nice pictures. You sure get a different perspective from the south.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the name of this building? My guess is Emerald.

That would be Emerald Stone if I am correct (developed by Procura)

Very nice pictures Surreal. Those are some angles we don't see much. That one of the river going thru mission is really nice. You should put them in the photos section as well.

I've always thought it was a sharp looking building, especially since it was at the very beginning of the current wave/generation. Must have went up fast because I barely remember seeing it go up.

It went up in a former parking lot on 8 St that was supposed to be the new Mt Royal Cinemas to replace Bankers Hall ones (which closed early 2001), so I have some bitter feelings about it, still.

good angle, I like the fact that many of the new buildings in the current boom now dot the skyline here and there.

That trail washed away in the flood of 2005. They are currently re-building the shoreline and the pathway, I don't know when they will be finished the work.

I'm late to this party but let me also say that the shots are fantastic!

I wonder if we'll start to see these southern exposures more in promotional material for Calgary as more towers rise and the biggie (The Bow) takes up residence in the skyline.

I was in a Chapters a few weeks ago and my eye caught a new Calgary postcard taken from the Scottsmans hill angle with arriVa about 1/2 way up. So at least its good to know they try to keep our postcard pictures somewhat updated! :haha:

Nice pictures. That second one with the river in the background is a great angle. I've never seen that one before.

Nice pictures Surreal. I wish they had have developed both sides of the Elbow river where 26th ave is. Imagine having multi-family projects on both side. IMO all those houses in Roxboro that back onto the river are wasting good river frontage. :hell:

Nice camera work Surrealplaces!

furrycanuck>I too was disappointed when the cinemas never got built. It would have been a real asset in the Beltline. Once the Eau Claire Market is demolished, will there be any major screens left in the core (other than the Globe and the Plaza)? Are there plans to include a movie theatre complex in the redevelopment?

There used to a decent selection back in 1991 when I moved to Calgary.

A theatre is supposed to be going back into Eau Claire.
