View Full Version : Move Baton Rouge and New Orleans threads to 'Southern States' section?

Somehow threads about Baton Rouge and New Orleans have been getting posted in two regional sections of the forum. The 'Texas & Southcentral' and 'Southern States' sections of the forum. In the 'Texas & Southcentral' section, there is an "update" thread for both cities that are more than a year and a half old, and are posted as sticky topics.

I was wondering if we should maybe move the Baton Rouge and New Orleans Update threads from the 'Texas & Southcentral' section to the 'Southern States' section?

It seems silly to have threads for the two cities being posted in two different regional sections of the forum. I've also noticed that few of the Baton Rouge and New Orleans regulars, as well as other southern forumers, post in the Texas & Southcentral section.

I wasn't immediately aware that threads for the two cities were being posted in both sections. I think it would be better to narrow it to one.

I could even go one step further and move all the threads having to do with Baton Rouge and New Orleans out of the 'Texas & Southcentral' section into the 'Southern States' section if you think this would be a good idea.

Baton Rouge has an update type development thread in both sections. So maybe we could merge the two threads into one big one that would be more inclusive?

The same could be done for New Orleans, though there doesn't seem to be a compilation type thread for New Orleans in here.

I'd like to get an opinion from everyone who makes up this section of the forum and is a resident of those two cities on what you think. I see no reason why people would be opposed to it, but I just wanted to give a heads up to everyone about it since it does seem goofy to have the threads in both sections.

I say move them. I enjoy keeping up and commenting about things all over the nation (but the South particularly). And I know we have a couple of posters on here that spend at least part of the year in Baton Rouge... and maybe New Orleans.

Louisiana is a part of the deep south, not central south; it does not make sense to keep them in the Texas region.

All news for cities north of I-10 should go in the Texas section. If you're below I-10 it can stay in here. :D

So it sounds like everyone agrees for the most part.

The South: Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky.

If this program were smarter we'd call it the "Southeast" and there would be little debate that you'd include the above and Arkansas. Then you'd have a Mid-Atlantic and Southwest and everyone would be happy and find their niche. It seems unbelievably simple to me.

Louisiana should be in the southern section.

Ok. I've already merged the Baton Rouge compilation threads and moved the New Orleans compilation thread here. Next will be to start moving the individual threads pertaining to each city, then making sure no threads are listed twice in this section. It may take a few days until everything is finished.

Sounds good; thanks for staying on top of this!

Ok, so I believe I'm done. Most of the threads were for Baton Rouge, with a few for New Orleans. If any more get posted in the Texas section, I'll move them over here.

Since I merged some of the threads and deleted the duplicate threads/posts, some of you who posted threads in the Texas section might notice a post drop.
