Looking back at this thread, I am at least happy to see that 5 of them are actually under construction (Trillium, Power Station, Market, Morris, Water Street) and a 6th is getting close (King's Wharf). That is actually better than I would have thought a couple of years ago. I was tempted to put the convention centre under the "getting close column, but I remain skeptical.

The only sad part is that the ones with the chance to most dramatically change the skyline (UG Towers, Alexander, IP) seem like a distant dream.

Yes! I've been looking for that south end pano for a little while now as I hadn't seen it in some time. Thanks

@Beyeas - probably because that change seems to be what people fear the most in this city

Well, I am still optimistic about International Place and I believe it will have the most dramatic impact due to its position in the CBD.

Despite the delays, projects in Halifax actually have a very good track record of getting built. Many of the highrises that exist today seemed at one point like they'd never actually go up. I remember reading about a development by Fenwick back in the late 90s, for example.

I think the bottom line is that Halifax is doing pretty well economically these days, and if there's demand for more space there's pressure on developers to build. We'll be seeing lots of new construction in the years to come.

I don't know about projects like United Gulf or International Place specifically, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of those starts fairly suddenly (from our perspective) during the next year or so.

Am I the only one who read "Chanel" and "Louis Vuitton" at the base of the United Gulf Towers (retail area)? That sounds like it will/would be quite the upscale building! Any news on this particular building?

See the United Gulf Towers thread.

Doubt we will see those stores in the building.
