Sad to say I've never heard of this town. And to top it off, it has a better courthouse than Ithaca!!
Why was Eliot Ness in Coudersport? Just wondering.
Good stuff Matt, thanks.

Coudersport is home to a "spontaneous combustion" (if you believe in that kind of thing).

"On December 5, 1966, the ashes of Dr. J. Irving Bentley, 92, of Coudersport, Pennsylvania, were discovered by a meter reader. Dr. Bentley's body apparently ignited while he was in the bathroom and burned a 2-1/2-by-3-foot hole through the flooring, with only a portion of one leg remaining intact. Nearby paint was unscorched."

A cool town with a hot history. I love Coudersport!

Perhaps it's the reason why nobody will renovate it!! :)

It is kind of strange that it isn't renovated (yet?). Money is tougher to get in backwoods areas like this, but Adelphia was located here, so there must have been some money flowing around the town.

Looks like a cozy place!

Are these "bricks" real or added cladding in this pic: http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/2042/img5554cwg7.jpg ( looks cool! )
