I have a mission/request for everyone.

I like some of you actually DO own a vehicle and I happen to own a 15 Passanger GM Van as I'm in the Artist Management business....LONG story short I find it hard to

a) Find an automatic car wash in general in the City.

&

b) the ones that I know of and have used in the past with cars, etc do not accept larger Vehicles in the Large SUV - Cargo Van - Passenger Van category. An example of this is the Shell at Main and 2nd used to accept my van.....but apparently some other LARGE vehicles have been in there and proved too large and have damaged the machinery. So now I'm S.O.L.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO that all being said............can any one let me know of some locations that they know of that exist at all........and maybe even may take a large Van?

I know there is that new place opening soon on Terminal near the Home Depot.........and I will check them out as soon as they do open.

thanks!

There's Oasis in burbaby by Kingsway and Royal Oak, they were cheap and good, at my old job I used to take my company car there as we had an account. I don't know about max height though but I think it would be okay.

They also have a location in North Van that I know of, maybe there's more.

The wash at Main & 2nd seems to be out of service a lot. There is a detailing place on W 2nd, west of Main.

Esso has a touchless wash on Marine and Fraser, I've seen larger pickups go through there.

regarding the car wash on terminal by home depot.

This is an excellent place, i recomend it to anyone. Usually I wash my car by hand but of course in the winter it can kind of be hard but this place is almost as good as when i wash it by hand.

So, is it one of those auto-washes? I've never found the gas station ones really work.

I did the $12 wash... wow! It beats many other automatic car washes around town. My car came out sparkling clean.

Just went there last night. My car came out looking like I washed it by hand. Even put tire shine on the bloody tires. It's cheaper than Washworld and does a way better job. Definitely recommended.

I took my new 2009 F150 to the terminal ave carwash the other day for it's inaugural carwash and the damn thing scratched the HECK out of it. I have countless scratches running horizontally along the sides of my brand new truck. Really frustrating, don't know what to do.

I would never take my car to an automatic car wash...it leaves swirls and really does a number on the wax above the paint. Ask anybody that does car detailing, and they will tell you how someone was too lazy to wash the car manually and made their brand new car look 10 years old.
tbarjoe: get it sent to detailing, they can most likely buff those surface scratches out if they are not too deep...then sent the bill to the car wash along with a letter saying you are taking them to small claims court if they do not pay up.

Top Gear had an episode last season where they compared hand wash, automatic with brushes, automatic touchless, and self-wash, the results were (in order of best to worst):
1) Automatic touchless
2) Hand wash
3) Automatic w/ Brushes
4) Self-wash

I assume hand wash is at home on the driveway (which is illegal in the city of Vancouver?) and self wash is like Washworld self wash stations? I use self wash but I'll use a lamb skin mitt from home instead of the brush that's available. I don't trust the brush.

I definitely saw some swirls on my car in the sun yesterday. =( It's a good thing i was planning to clay/polish/wax my car this weekend anyway.

Hand wash is at a car washing location where people are employed to wash your car with cloths, mitts, or whatnot. The self wash was very bad because people throw the brush on the ground and such and it picks up little bits of sand which you subsequently grind into your paint.

Having someone else hand wash your car, with dirty rags they used on 100 cars beforehand is better than the special cloths I buy and wash every time after use? Yeah right...
Touchless is not that good at removing anything, since the stuff that builds up on a car needs contact with something to actually be removed from the surface. Heck, even hand washing takes a few times before being able to remove all the dirt...
Interesting that it is illegal outside, we have a car washing spot in our underground parking.

In some of the newer condos and apartments we've been designing car wash bays in the parkade. The drain underneath is an oil and soap interceptor which is why it's legal. It might be worth finding some biodegradable car wash soap.

Lol well now that I've whined, I may as well contribute to the thread itself. The one I used to go to was the Shell at 41st and Dunbar....
