December was the third snowiest on record and one of the coldest too. Oh well, life goes on despite the cold. These pics are from the end of November 2008 to January 4 2009.

Colours condo. The coloured glass hides a parking garage.

the City is buying the Cecil Hotel and its license has been pulled. Apparently the police were afraid to respond to calls from there. I was there once, it wasn't that bad.

brrr. I went home to Calgary for the Christmas break. I can't recall a time when it's been so cold for so long in Calgary. Where's my chinooks?

Thanks for braving the cold and bring us these great pics!

I intend to forward this page to my email buddies because you have really captured the magic of winter in Calgary.

To the would-be visitors from warmer climates . . . it's a dry cold! Really, the cold doesn't soak through to your bones in Calgary, the way it does in damp regions. Dress in layers because a warm chinook wind could blow in any day.

Thanks for the tour! I really like that photo of Cecil Hotel, looks eerie, could've been from Twin Peaks...

Great set, you can't appreciate how cold it was from looking at them though. Keep up the good work.

Lovely pictures. I hope they keep that Cecil Hotel. I know it is not much but there is something about it in that picture that I liked. It could be the snow and that it was taken at night with the construction in the background. Anyway, thanks for posting the photos. Calgary is looking really nice.

I have about a 48 hour tolerance for snow and cold. That looks WAYYY too frigid. Fantastic shots though. Your night shots are quite crispy.

Wow! Wonderful views, especially the bright colors in snow.

I've only seen Calgary in August. It looks entirely different when all the green is replaced by white. Great city in any weather, though!

Great shots! I too loved the vivid colours amongst the white of the snow. It was good to be back for the Holidays when I was there. I certainly wasn't used to the cold though! The snow, however, I was used to, coming from Vancouver and all ;)

I'll never understand how Canada packs so much into its cities. Calgary metro only has 1.1 million people! Some of those street level shots remind me of density found in Chicago.

Calgary's downtown skyline is pretty killer!
