I would'nt have started a tread just for one building, but this one means so much more to me than other boxes.

Believe it or not, Citic Plaza is my very first Asian glass box!
I spent 4 hours on it, longer than what I usually take, this also marks my 4th generation drawing, one that includes clouds, which was not my style at all.

Hope you like it!

It's not in the primary, that means that I'll have to improve it.
http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=50&drawingID=18174 ;)
I used manual diltering.
I dotted the whole facade.:D

If it's not good, please tell me, I'll try to furthur improve it.

I hope to get a spot.:D

And don't worry, I'll still spend time to make it better if it's needed even though I'm rushing on Petronas.

It's an awesome drawing. You may want to put some cloud and/or building reflections on the facade if it does reflect. (I've never seen a good picture of the building). However, it is excellent!:)

Sorry, I needed to make a new building so you can compare, the other one will be deleted.

Ok, let's be honest, the one above is not nicee too right, well, I'm not satisfied with it either, so:

cliff, at the top of the building, the contrast between the two sides is very visible. at the bottom, there isnt any. perhaps you could make the 1 side a bit darker and the other a bit lighter so people can see the difference between the two sides

Cliff

That's supposed to be a glassy effect, because at the bottom the light is not so strong, and glass buildings don't show too much shadow.

But I can change it to make the whole right facade darker if you really think it would be better.;)

Please tell me why!

I'll do anything! Just tell me why is mine still an outcast!

Opps, sorry , I got a little carried away.:D

Just say it, What is it that makes this Citic unworthy to be in the primary, I'll be glad to improve it.

Thank you.

Its kinda greyish also the left side is kinda thin, but I guess it depends on the angle you are at.

Overall it's fantastic, but I'm not positive it's as accurate as some of the others.

Actually, I found one thing that is wrong with all the drawings. Take a look at the base in this photo:

CITIC Plaza - ss.com (http://www.skyscrapers.com/re/en/im/df/122005/)

The legs at the corners of the base are not shear with the facade of the building. They're in a bit (looks like ~1m). However, that's the only thing I see wrong. The sign on Cliff's drawing has the correct colors and his antennae are thinner. Also, Cliff has the dots along the corners (lights or something?), while Kelvin's doesn't.

Kelvin's drawing is very good, but I think Cliff's might be more accurate at the top.
:)

There is also something that I might add, the top of Citic is not the same for all four sides, there isn't the hole at the sides( if you are looking from the front.)
http://www.skyscrapers.com/re/en/im/df/140306/

All their drawings are 'symmetrical' that's why mine is tilted at only exactly 20 degrees because I'm not too sure and don't want to risk the accuracy.

Also, the base is almost square, and at an angle, it should be very narrow, so the diagrams (besides Buck's and Damien's) have their bases too low.

I hope the change of base can give me an advantage.;)

That's a beautiful drawing!!!!!

I love the detail.

I think that It will be better if you change the shape of the drawing, more smooth.

For the JHC, you are showing the front entry on the back end

Why is the left part of the side of the building wider than the right part of the side? I haven't noticed that the building is like that...but maybe I just have missed it.

Still a good drawing!

Cliff

What should I do now?

It seems accurate enough, even the primary one is wrong, with the left side as wide as the right.

There must be a reason, is the front view preferred? Please tell me, and like for Citic Plaza, I'll do anything!:)

I tried to make it look shiny becaouse that is the design purpose of the building to reflect the sky.

I did not do the front becaouse I would have to draw a reflection of Trinity Church, since IM Pei designed the building in a diagonal angle such that Trinity's facade would be rippling on the face of John Hancock.

The notch does not sit in the centre of the end face - Cliff has drawn it correctly. The rear low-rise is about 7 or 8 floors though if i recall correctly and has some loading docks and such.

The Trinity Church & Copely Square reflection is really only seen from a few vantage points. It's funny, when I'm there I hardly notice the JHT and spend most of the time walking arounf the Church and Square.

Cliff

I don't know how the loading docks look like, but I did increase the height of the podium to 7 stories.

It's kind of a back alley, so it doesn't get a lot of attention. I'd say you have it about right. There is a set of double man-doors at street level to the immediate right of the notch (see also my diagram). It was through these doors that you could go up to the 60th floor observation area.

Amazing! Why don't you try the Union Building in Singapore from the Official Buildings Requests thread?
