Those are the photos i took when i went to Yellowknife this January. I happened to arrive during an intense period of below average temperatures and ice fog so during my 3 days there the temperature went from -39C to -43C
Unfortunately i couldn't take heaps of photos as my camera died every 5 minutes with those temperatures and it would take one hour in the warmth of my room before it would start working again

Fantastic shots!

It's amazing how great a skyline Yellowknife has considering its small size.

Cold is even worse if you're doing exercise. I hurt myself pretty bad a few days ago running across down the street to catch a bus and it was only -20.

what's an australian doing in Yellowknife??

I included it in my round the world ticket because i have been told that to go there as a single destination can cost a fortune

He likes colder climates, as opposed to Australia's hot climate. He also likes night more than day. It's weird, but it is what it is.

Someone has to enjoy living up there if we're going to asset our sovereignty, eh?

Mmm mmm!! Frosty!! :D

Great pics pallo!

Different strokes for different folks I guess. pallo's experience would definitely equal to any average Canadian making a trip to Mexico or the Carribean, except the direct opposite in terms of climate. :)

The ice fog brings back a lot of winter memories for me. Very cool thread. Cool as in interesting and entertaining, not cold.

they've some nice looking houses up there. if it wasn't for the picture of -42 i would almost consider purchasing some real estate there..

Many people refer the Canadians winters to the "cold white north" And a lot of truth to that at times. But I wished I could go south for winter. Too cold for me.

You can buy in NWT but you can't in Nunavut. Most of it is crown land and what isn't crown land is owned by inuits.

Very nice. I was going to ask 'where are all the people?' then I saw the pic with the temperature.
