Fuck,McIver now out in fromt. Nenshi is so close though.

Oct 19, 2010, 3:47 AM
The early polls in the ward-by-ward counts are the 'special', i.e. retirement home polls. For instance, as I typed this 30 seconds ago, McIver had a lead in 7, with 8 polls responding. 7 has 8 retirement home polls. It's clear to see the bump of ~1K votes when a 'real' poll is added.

At this point, it looks like the official totals have one poll each from 1, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 11.

I recommend chilling out a little bit and watching a great political candidate who isn't from Calgary, Jimmy McMillan of The Rent Is Too Damn High Party (of NY State) (http://tv.gawker.com/5667182/crazy-rent-is-too-damn-high-candidate-steals-the-show-at-ny-gov-debate).

They count. The candidate would have had to declare they would not take the post of mayor if elected - to some effect like that.

Bassic Lab
Oct 19, 2010, 4:01 AM
They really have to speed up the alderman counts. We are approaching 1/3 of the mayoral results while some of the wards have to be well under 5%. Remember the mayor is one vote, just like everyone else on council. How the other fourteen line up will mean a great deal for the direction the city heads in.

There were a large number of advance votes before candidates announced their withdrawal. Some people who voted for them were ticked about that. There may also be some people registering protest votes if they don't like the frontrunners.

I'd like to give my fellow calgarians the benefit of the doubt and that most of those votes were advanced votes. Although I met one person at the gym who wasn't going to vote for that brown guy, when I asked him who he'd vote for, he mentioned Joe and I told him that Joe was the next best vote.
