There's been a lot of "best" threads, but I was surprised nothing about Thai.

My personal favorite is Hot Peppers on Somerset

Just wondering what others think?

Sukhothai on Robertson/Moodie-ish is pretty good.

Another good Thai place I've tried is Siam Bistro on Wellington/Holland-ish.

Hands down Khao Thai on Murray. A bit expensive though.

There's Som Tum Thai on Kent/Lisgar too. Never been there, but it always looks full around lunchtime.

I'll second Siam bistro, they do a variety of SE Asian cuisine. My wife doesn't like their Pad Thai though (too much sauce).

I really like Green Papaya at Preston/Gladstone, and Queen/Kent.

I liked Green Papaya too.

Is the one at Queen/Kent new? I saw it last time I was in town and didn't recognize it. But it looked like near where the Hot Peppers used to be on Queen. I thought maybe it replaced it.

Yeah, it changed name only a couple of months after opening.

Gina's diner on Bank closed and there is a new Thai place there now. Haven't tried it, not even sure its open yet, just a heads up if someone wants too...

I haven't actually tried Thai food in Ottawa yet. I'll probably do it this summer.

Checked out their website. They have 2 locations on Queen now. I think about a block apart from one another. Weird.

I can only vouch for the original Queen Street location (on the south side of Queen).

I recently ate at their new location in front of the Museum of Civilization in Hull, where Henri Burger used to be. Highly recommended...

Yes, west of Bank, east of Kent.

Hmmm...think thai food will have to be on the menu tonight.

Sweet Basil on Bank/Heron is awesome. Anna's on Holland is decent too...

I've had takeout from Sukhothai but never ate there (at either the old location of the new former KFC location) and its always been good.

The old location had a real bad 70's rec room ambience to it.

This is sort of on topic (well, not really) but... last week I walked on Bank from downtown to the Queensway and I was surprised by the amount of Vietnamese restaurants that have opened up recently. A couple that come to mind is that place at Lisgar and the old Gina's diner near Catherine...

What is it with Thai food in this town? Never seen so many Thai places, it's all I noticed when I first moved here, the grocery stores all seem to have a little Thai section, the first restaurant someone took me to was a Thai place in Hull...

Well, with all the bureaucratic red tape in this city, one gets fit to be Thai'd :haha:

I'm curious to try the Talay Thai on Bank right across Ada's Diner. Anyone else?

You must be confusing Thai with Shawarma.

Royal Thai - Dalhousie at Murray.

Seconded, hands down. Cheap, fantastic food, and a ton of selection. It's pretty much everything I look for in a Thai restaurant.

Ha, so it is. :jester:

Must have clicked on the shortcut by mistake or something. This is more accurate: :slob:
