Radio One mostly, although CKUA has a nice homespun feel, and CJSW's nice to have available if I'm in the mood for grungy college radio.
Still waiting for an answer on "Who are you, how did you find this horrible noise, and what have you done with the real Radio Two?"

Canada has more than one radio station? I thought there was just one with a few annoying radio announcers who play bad music and make puerile jokes.

Most of the time when I've been in Mtl CHOM has been on an endless repeat of Max Webster/Eagles/AC/DC/Rolling Stones etc.
The Buzz would be OK if it had a better signal especially in the core of Montreal.

Canadian radio????
I haven't listened to Winnipeg radio in almost a month since getting XM in my new car.
I can't say I really miss hearing the same Tragically Hip song being played 23 times through out the day either.
Or the fact, that Winnipeg radio almost exclusively tailors itself to middle aged women (Clear 102 fm, Q 94, The Groove), Cowboys (QX 104 fm, Hank radio 107.5, 93.1 fm, and Country 1570 in Winkler), and angry narrow minded conservatives (CJOB 680 AM).
Not to mention, a number of choch Alternative Rock stations for your daily Nickleback fix (Power 97, 92.9 Kick FM, Ignite 107 fm).
It's a good thing the CRTC offer's us so much variety in radio programming!!!

Your U of M and U of W campus radio stations are VERY good. I've streamed them online quite a few times. 101.5 and 95.9, respectively.
Listening to Radio 1 now. I've always found the fact that Barbara Budd and Carol Off are hosting a show together. If they were on a rock station in the morning it would most certainly be called "Budd Off".

Haha, my friend does a late night metal show on UMFM. The station is jokingly referred to as "Listerner free radio" because of some of the more eclectic programming they have on there.
As a student of the U of W, CKUW is a little too socialist for my own tastes considering I have to pay for it.
It is college radio I suppose.
Where else can one listen to the musings of starry eyed idealists between sets of emo ladden rock?
University radio here is truly bizarre. I don't think most of the city knows it exists, either.

Hard to pick out a station, but some of my favourite shows are:
CJAY 92.1 6am-10am Weekdays: Forbes and Freinds. Yes, I like to check the brain at the door, shotgun a beer and giggle like Beavis and Butthead sometimes. I mean who doesn't.
X92.9 9pm-11pm Weekdays: good harder stuff from the 90's
CJSW 90.9 6pm-7pm Friday: Musicquarium, chill before going out. The calm before the storm if you will
Energy 101.5 8pm-10pm Saturday: Poppy club music 80's-90's-current (no commercials) that the GF likes and I can at least tolerate
CJSW 90.9 10pm-11pm (sometimes later) Saturday: Megawatt Mayhem: METAL!!!
CKUA 93.7 sometimes has good live recordings / shows

Tongue and Groove on CKUA used to be the best radio program in Alberta when it aired @ 9 pm on saturdays. I always caught the show.. 2 hours of eclectic house, electro & funk that made Alberta feel just a little bit less backwoodsy... I hear Kevin Wilson may be coming back with a similar program.
Weekday AM's I listen to CJSR from the U of A for the idle banter and BBC news. Sonic for modern rock (best alt/rock station I've found outsdie the west coast) and CBC when I am driving one my frquent highway trips to Red Deer or elsewhere.

I'm a CBC Radio One listener, if I'm near a radio when they're on I like The Current, As It Happens, and Ontario Today. Sometimes The Sunday Edition has something interesting, and Cross-Country Checkup as well. If I'm in Toronto I've always found the local CBC station (99.1 FM) has the most complete GTA traffic reports, even better than 680 which can sometimes neglect traffic issues in the 905 area.
Aside from that most of the time I listen to FM96 in London, more for the morning show with Tucker and Taz than anything. They're like the Dean Blundell show on The Edge but somewhat watered down for more conservative London tastes, still quite funny sometimes with a lot of pranks. Also I don't mind the Ongoing History of New Music sometimes. Although they're like The Edge and also play some local stuff, the playlist seems to be getting smaller and smaller. I once heard the same Linkin Park song four times in 10 hours.
London has what may be one of the most popular college stations anywhere, 106.9 The X at Fanshawe College. They're an urban music station and sound very mainstream, and have the added plus of more local programming than anyone in London, including late nights. For a college station the signal covers the city quite well. Almost everyone I know who listens to conventional radio listens to FM96 or The X.
Otherwise the area has a pretty generic lineup of stations, including four country stations and the added bonus of the worst of Kitchener radio.

Dave doesn't reach this area. The two strongest signals from Kitchener we get are CHYM and Kool FM. Not sure if any forumers here like "easy listening" but there's a relatively unknown and unique station out of Tillsonburg on 101.3 FM playing that music, and they even have respectable ratings in London. Doesn't sound like a commercial station at all, and yet they run some pretty good cash giveaways. I remember they gave away $10,000 once.

If I hear one more bland, uniformly voiced, late 30s-to-middle-aged divorcee described as a 'diva,' I'm probably going to put a fist through my radio :yuck:
I'm only in my 20s, but as a legacy of being raised on CHFI's Saturday Night Oldies Show, most of my presets are oldies stations:
99.5 CKKW Kitchener (used to be AM 1090 oldies, but they moved to FM and started playing 80s music and the worst 70s music I've ever heard.)
103.9 CKDK Woodstock (another 'greatest hits' station, but with much better taste among its DJs)
1150 CKOC Hamilton (one of the only oldies stations left that I can get; usually a good mix, but the afternoon guy gets on my nerves)
1460 CJOY Guelph (I'm in school in Toronto most of the week, where this station's almost always a sea of static. Don't listen as much any more)
1380 CKPC Brantford (almost always a sea of static, but useful when everything else stinks)
I also have Classical 96.3 (haven't listened to Radio 2 since they announced the change) and three coloured water 'easy listening' stations that I only listen to as a last resort (98.1's still helpful when the Oldies Show is on though).
And I listen to WOMC 104.3 Detroit when I'm near Windsor. It's amazing what songs are played when the radio station isn't being strangled by CanCon regulations.
The radio station here gave away $100,000 a few years ago. Now they just give out 100$ every hour in fall and winter (when school semesters start, I noticed.) My mom has won once, but you can win as soon as two weeks after the first time.
Their morning show is pretty entertaining, a middle-aged guy from rural Quebec and a young female Polish immigrant. Their conversations end up in the gutter after about 30 seconds.

They used to be my favourite station when they played an all classic rock lineup a few years ago. I think they've hired one too many consultants since then, and now they sound like a BOB or a JACK. Their ratings have gone way down at the same time. Co-owned FM96 picked up a little bit of the classic rock slack, but there are numerous good songs that are never played on London-area radio anymore because of this change.

They are one of the better oldies stations out there. And given the right conditions, they sometimes come in very clearly in London.
One of my co-workers streams WRIF from Detroit, a supposedly active rock station, day after day at her desk. It is basically FM96 or The Edge, but without CanCon and with a lot more commercials. A LOT more. They will play one song then go to endless commercials. They might as well be an all-commercial station.

I don't mind CanCon on its own, but when it translates to a seemingly endless cycle of Edward Bear, The Poppy Family, Ocean, Anne Murray, Chilliwack, Joni Mitchell, Bryan Adams, Gale Garnett, and Andy Kim, the pitchforks and torches come out.
