Just wondering why the mod closed down the obscure thread. So what if there's an "official" off topic thread somewhere else. This is what pisses me off about the new format. Didn't I mention the gestapo on the last thread people?! Anyhow, this is to hopefully resurrect by far the most entertaining if short lived thread I've seen on here in months. Could we put this one to a vote please? Call it the silly thread if you want. It doesn;t have to be a redundant version of the "official" OT thread. Anyhow, join me people and resurrect the awesomeness of the last version!:notacrook:

O-tacular, while that thread was pretty good for a laugh, it's basically redundant to the Skybar (http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27) section of SSP, specifically the "Check This Out Too" Thread (http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=128294&page=487). Actually, if you look at the description of the General Section of the SSP Local Calgary, it says "Note: this is not an off-topic, anything goes section." Whether that's too oppressive for you or not, I don't know. Really though, there's already the skybar. I'm actually a bit surprised Mark set up the "Coffee Talk Thread" (aka "idle chat" or "random thoughts/questions" sort of thing) here as there is already one in the skybar, but whatever.

Anyway, I'm sure Mark will give you an official response later.

It's not redundant at all. The Skybar is in the general forum area. This is in Local:Calgary.

Two entirely different audiences, two entirely different focuses (potentially).

I thought that was the entire point of the Local format.

I posted an image in that thread which pretty much sums it up.

That thread wasn't even a Check This Out thread or an off topic thread, it was basically spam where people posted in it for the sake of doing so. And on this forum, spam threads are done away with.

Perhaps for the most part. All I ask is that you give this thread one week to let the people decide where it might go. One week. If in one week it is literally just SPAM or no one seems to post or care delete it. If not, well... maybe we could do a vote.

The skybar off topic thread is an excellent example, if this thread were like that one, then it'll work out.

If there's no discussion taking place at one point in the thread it's not difficult to start any discussion that's relevant at the time, and people will respond.
