The City of Toronto has a plan to have a large network of bike lanes across the city. Thanks to this plan bike lanes have finally come to my area. I gave the brand new bike lanes a try and rode the entire length of the lanes from my area to the Scarborough Town Centre area.

Anyway enjoy a ride along the new bike lanes and also through my subdivision and areas around the new bike lanes.

Click on the link below for a nice song to go along with the pictures. My sister is working with this guy, so that is how we found out about his music.

Very nice stuff. Can you revisit in the winter? I want to see what Canadian winters look like.

What a neat thread! Thankyou!

Looks like a neat, mature, yet suburban area. The commie blocks...famous for Toronto. I love how you seemed to show every angle of this neighbourhood, good or bad.

I actually think it looks nice in a modest way. I like how many buses there are; for a suburb it's alot.

Also, looking at the red car parked in the bike lane makes my blood boil. Living downtown where traffic is much denser, there is nothing worse than riding bike along a supposed bike lane only to find a car parked in it.

These are among the first on street bike lanes in the suburban sectors of the city, so it is going to take residents a while to get use to them. I think the city was being very nice with the people on this road, as you will notice space was made for parking on one side of the street.

So these people just have to get to get use to it. And they better do it fast, because more lanes are coming to this area :) including the 15KM Lawrence Ave East bike lanes.

I know bike lanes can be advantageous in US communities becasue they are cheaper than installing/maintaining brand new bike paths through park areas. I prefer bike lanes because they actually take you somewhere....a noticeable shift from recreational purpose to a lifestyle purpose.

Great shots!
