The workers death is tragic, my sympathies to his family. Obviously someone dying isn't an everyday occurance, but are elevator problems?
I only know of one situation here where an elevator got stuck, it took four hours to get them out.
In another situation, a deer broke into an office building and took the elevator to the top floor.

TD Tower?
isn't that the same building where a worker fell from a window?

You don't hear about elevator mishaps much, that would be a crappy way to die.

Probably one of the worst ways to go - those last few seconds must be terrifying. :(

It happened in the Dominion Building in London a few years ago as well. Not as far a drop, but still fatal. :(

I can't believe a chinese guy would throw himself out of the TD Centre window.. They are not risk takers at least not like everyone else. Seems strange and I would not picture that. ( i guess he was removed from their gene pool before he could reproduce)
Sad about that guy that fell the other day though...

Never walk into an elevator blindly. Always look to make sure it's actually there. Happens more than you think. Not just on L.A. Law!

It's not really a big issue in a well-maintained office tower like that or the one I work in (across the street from it). I've never heard of anyone in my office getting stuck although occasionally you see Otis people working on elevators that are obviously out of commission. An elevator crashed to basement in the National Life Building on University Avenue a few years ago, injuring its occupants fairly seriously. I think the building is called something else now; it's at the corner of Elm Street I believe.

:previous: I remember hearing about that one. It seems elevator accidents are rather rare...

I work on elevators and they are the safest mode of transportation in the world for the riding public. This is a very tragic accident and my heart goes out to his family and friends. People simply do not understand the dangers Elevator Techs face on a daily basis making those elevators so safe for you.
