So due to the IOC not allowing athletic federation logos at the Olympics. Thus, Hockey Canada has been forced to change the logos. The new logo has been leaked! Just wondering what you all think about the new design.

I like the white one a lot. What exactly isn't allowed (they look like Team Canada jerseys to me, so I don't know what constitutes the "banned" elements from before) and why?

From my understanding of it the national federations logo is no longer allowed to be the main logo used, so they can't use the traditional hockey canada logo on the front, but are allowed to keep it on the sleeves.

The 'banned' logo is the one you see on the sleeve of the jersey, the one we are used to seeing as the main logo. To be honest I like the new jerseys way better than the ones from the recent past.

We needed a "I like it" option.

I don't love it (yet), but they do look good. Plus I do like the detailing inside the maple leaf.

So based on that I went with the "something is missing" option.

Yeah, they couldn't use them on the soccer jersey's during the Summer Olympics. The white one will look even better with a C on the front and Iggy's name on the back.

Ah, that clarifies it. Not sure why I struggled with this one but from all descriptions it made no sense - the Hockey Canada logo is still on it!

Now that I understand this I actually prefer it. I'd rather have a country symbol up front, with the sponsoring body on the side. Much like how if we ever see advertising on NHL jerseys, keep it on the sleeves. I don't want to stare at big logos in front of jerseys. Different animal, but still - organizational logos annoy me after a while.

It's a valid point that you make. Personally, I have never associated the logo with the sponsoring body. To me it has just signified hockey in Canada. I honestly think that it is a FANTASTIC logo. Beats all of the other international entries. :tup:

Personally I still like the '72 jerseys that look like they were cut right out of the Canadian flag.:)

They look alright here, but I think they have potential to be very sexy on the ice.
