View Full Version : Oswego, NY (And it didn't snow)

I headed to Oswego after my visit to Watertown. Oswego sits on the southern shore of Lake Ontario where the Oswego river enters the lake. Due to its location, there's plenty of snow in the winter. 300 inches can happen, and a couple of winters ago the city got 11 feet of snow in two weeks.
The population of the city is about 18,000. And the city is the county seat of Oswego County (pop ~ 120,000). Here is a link to more info if you're interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oswego,_NY

It's mid to late sunday afternoon, and the rain is letting up some. The Oswego River bisects the city, so I'll do the two halves (west side first).
My lens got damp during the Watertown visit and kept fogging up, I tried to keep it clean but.....

Lake Ontario and the port,

Nice pictures. Oswego looks alright.

Oswego looks FANTASTIC!

Awesome building stock... and appears to have a pretty healthy downtown! Any place with bars/restaurants named "The Raven", "Grendel's" and "King Arthur's Brew Pub & Steakhouse" is a place I would like to visit!

Some excellent historic building stock, and with that setting, summer should be nice enough to make up for winter's snow.

Nice, but can't imagine why someone would want to set up shop where 300+ inches of snow falls!!!

Thanks for all the replies fellas. Adn even though I grew up in a city with over 100" of snow a year, Not sure I could live in a place like that now (getting kind of old for all that shovel work).

Thanks for the re-cap! I went to college there. Was back in June. It was quite a bit more run-down then I had remembered. So much great architecture all boarded up. Still a nice northern town though. Many newer sun-belt cities could only dream of having some of these structures in their towns.
