My list of favourite places within the Ottawa –Gatineau area for exquisite chocolate, amazing cookies and very good pastries, in case you are interested:
Maison Chaloin, 546 Blvd Saint-Joseph, Gatineau, 819 595-0000
An amazing place making exquisite chocolate and cookies in Gatineau. I live in Ottawa but someone brought me chocolate from this place. It was so good that I had to check the place for myself. The place is modern and definitely one the best I found so far in Ottawa-Gatineau region. I like the dark chocolate and they have a variety of this sort, using cacao from various regions including Peru and Brazil
Three Tarts, 1320 Wellington Street W, Ottawa, ON K1Y 3B7, (613) 729-9832
I live in east Ottawa but discovered this place recently in the West Ottawa. It is close to Tunney's Pasture. Very good quality tarts and cookies, with flavour and not so sweet. Highly recommended.
Ichiban Bakery, 1500 Bank Street:
This is a Japanese bakery with very good stuff, bread and pastries included. Location, opposite the Farm Boy on Bank street (pass by Billings Bridge towards South Keys, on your right side). They have good croissants.
