Correction for Sendemast Gartow 1 ( http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=46673 )

Year of built: 1963
Year of demolition: 2009
Status: Destroyed
Coordinates: 53°4’7,9” N, 11°26’22,35” E

The mast was built in 1963 for the realization of an overhorizon radio relay link to Fernmeldeturm Berlin-Schäferberg ( http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=468 ) and for TV broadcasting. When completed, it was with a height of 332 metres the tallest man-made object in West Germany, which it remained until the second half of the 1970ies.
The mast was up to the adapter of the TV broadcasting antenna in a height of 300 metres a lattice steel structure of square cross section with a side length of 4.2 metres. The mast was of extraordinary strong design and had a weight of 1001 tons. It was guyed in 4 levels with double guys with a total length of 5.9 kilometres and a total weight of 126 tons. The mast was equipped with an elevator, which could reach a height of 289 metres. In 1982 the TV broadcasting antenna on the top was renewed. By this measure its height was reduced to 327 metres. In 1990 the overhorizon radio relay link to former West Berlin was obsolete as after German reunification towers in former GDR could be used for radio relay links. In the following years the mast lost more and more transmission functions and got after the switch off of the analogue TV transmitter serving its antenna on July 1st, 2008 completely useless. Originally it was planned to be demolished on December 31st, 2008 at midnight, but this was not possible as many parts containing asbestos had to be removed. Also a demolition in spring 2009 was not possible in order not to endanger breeding birds. On August 20th, 2009 10:00 UTC it was finally demolished by cutting the guys with 3 kilogramm Semtex Razor 40 explosive. The mast fell a bit more north as calculated and destroyed by its impact the road to the tourist café Höhbeck Schwedenschanze.

Correction for http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=46674 ( Sendemast Gartow 2)

Please change textes as follow:

* Coordinates: 53°3'55"N 11°26'33"E
* It allowed first a direct radio relay link from former West Germany to former West Berlin without using any infrastructure of GDR. The terminal in former West Berlin was Sendemast Berlin - Frohnau ( http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=8946 ). Before its erection the only direct radio relay links between West Germany and former West Berlin were over horizon radio relay links, which sometimes do not work properly as result of bad wave propagation conditions. It is guyed in four levels ( 60 m, 132 m, 216 m and 312 m over ground). For the upper guy level, double guys are used.

* The mast has several closed operating rooms and an elevator for six people.

* Since 1989 the mast is used for meteorological research by the Institute for Steel Research of Braunschweig Technical University. It carries several devices for wind speed and wind direction measurements fixed on 7.5 metres long horizonal bars. The vertical distance between these bars is 18 meters. The lowest bar with wind measuring equipment is 30 metres, the upmost 341 metres above ground. Further the mast carries several measurement equipment for measuring wind forces on its structure, for better understanding the influence of wind on guyed masts. .

* After 1990 the mast overtook all radio services, which were installed on Sendemast Gartow 1 ( http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=46673 ) and were not cancelled. It is also used for broadcasting the program of “Deutschlandfunk” on 102.1 MHz.

Correction for Sendemast Berlin - Frohnau ( http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=8946 )

Demolished on February 8th, 2009 by using explosives. Must be declared as "destroyed"

Please change the text "AM antenna" as follows

- In August 2001, a small-medium wave antenna was installed on the site.
It is an inverted-V antenna consisting of two wires, which are fixed on the pinnacle of an only 10m high tower and running diagonally to the ground.
During IFA 2001 it was used for broadcasting a program on the mediumwave frequency 1485 kHz with a power of 1 kW in DRM-mode as part of a single frequency network consisting of
a transmitter in Rüdersdorf and one on Berlin-Schäferberg. Latter transmitter used a T-antenna spun between the telecommunication tower ( http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=468 )
and Funkturm Berlin-Schäferberg (http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=82393 )

Please add the coordinates to folowing objects:

* Donetsk TV Mast ( http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=58804 ): 47°56′43″N 37°38′36″E
* Vinnytsia TV Mast ( http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=35051 ): 49°14′39″N 28°25′43″E, year of built: 1961 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TV_Tower_Vinnytsia )
