Clear skies aren't as interesting a backdrop, if you ask me. Great photos.

These were all taken on the same day? The views from atop the Arc de Triomphe really are excellent.

Wow! All fantastic pictures - the clouds do make the pics even better.

Those ones of people on the steps of the 'cube' have a kind of science-fiction quality about them. Brilliant.

true - not clear skies, per se, but enough gaps to let some direct sun in :D

the pictures at la defense were a day or two earlier than the ones from the arc de triomphe, which was the only really good light we had during the trip!

Magnificent photos!!! Reminds me of the night I got lost in La' Defense late at night. What a maze of buildings. Great part of Paris.

I really wish I had gotten to explore La Defense when I went to Paris a few years ago. Beautiful photos, thanks!

Awesome set! That roundabout around the Arc is pretty chaotic, I was there for about ten minutes and saw probably half a dozen near misses.

The one looking along the steps is definitely my favourite, great shot.

The claustrophobically-cramped circular staircase up the Arc de Triomphe is a b%tch if you're not expecting it. Between being claustrophobic and with asthma, I was pretty happy to reach the top, to say the least. We got to go up, at night, and it the views were just spectacular. It feels like you're in a movie; far better than the experience I had at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

if you don't like that one, definitely don't try the stairs at st peters, the duomo, or sacre couer! the arc de triomphe stairwells are gracious and light filled by comparison.

Yeah, the walk up Montmartre was enough. Needless to say that I only admired the Sacre Coeur from its ground floor. lol

Paris is a magnificent city. i really like how much of the newest development is situated away from the older parts of the city. Then again, i love how London is able to incorporate the modern stuff with the older buildings. To me, Paris has a uniquely feminine feel regarding architecture (not counting of course the Tour de Eiffel) i love the use of curves in La Defense and in Paris in general. Am i right- curves seem more feminine while straight edges convey a more masculine motif? Make sense?
