One of the best American examples of the Brutalist style of architecture, the Morris A. Mechanic Theater in Baltimore is best known for bringing Broadway to Baltimore. Designed by John M. Johansen, the Mechanic Theater made its debut in 1967. It has been labeled "“a highly sculptural centerpiece among more reserved office buildings".

Zizkov TV Tower - Prague, Czech Republic

A member of the World Federation of Great Towers the Zizkov TV Tower is a great example of modern design and functionality. It is used as a television broadcast tower and also holds an observation deck and restaurant. At 216m tall the Zizkov TV Tower dominates the skyline of Prague.

Steel and glass meet, but not in the usual way.

Ryugyong Hotel - Pyongyang, North Korea

This building is actually really neat, it was never finished and has sat as a huge white elephant towering over the city for years. And now out of the blue they are finishing it over with glass...However it is assumed it will still never be used due to the crumbling nature of the buildings inferior concrete construction.

its a matter of taste. Not MY taste btw :)

btw, Petrobras has outgrown this building for a long time already. They use some 2 or 3 more 30 storey buildings in Rio de Janeiro. Its quite sad... it seems we will never get a skyscraper in Brazil.

probably the building with most extensive use of brise-soleils in the world...

At least its brise-soleils make sense. When you see a building with brise-soleils on the north wall in Canada, or brise-soleils right beside mature trees, it just makes you cry. It's like a big sign in front of the building that says "THE RETARD WHO DESIGNED THIS BUILDING DIDN'T THINK ABOUT THE SURROUNDINGS ON ITS OWN PROPERTY!"

I think Habitat 67 deserve a place in the list but that's my taste.

It IS interesting to see these buildings. However, the fact remains that it would be up to the individual who is interested in these buildings, to judge for themself, whether they like it or not.

They've fiddled with the contrast so the grey slats almost match.
