There is a large hole and they have started to create a foundation. The hole is fairly deep and I was wondering if anyone had any idea what they are building.

i have seen that hole and wondered the same thing but im not sure sorry to tell you.
But if you were to ask me to guess i would say judging on the area a condo building its a good guess though aha.

Sobeys purchased the lands late last fall.

but the hole is square. and condos are usually rectanglish. i'm just confused. :haha:

sdm said that sobeys bought the land so maybe a needs or a gas station although i see no need for either of those due to wants already in the area.

At the Birch Cove public meeting the other night, Debbie Hum said that she has been fielding lots of questions about that site. Apparently, the big hole is for site remediation (what was there before? a gas station?? why else would the site need remediation?). Debbie said that no development application has been put forward.

Thats pretty much the story of my life. Of the thousands of teenagers in Bedford I am the only one who shows up at public meetings though in a couple of ways that has helped me get my name out there. :P

I've been to a couple development meetings in the past and you're right- they are mostly made up of old people complaining. I'm happy to know that there are other young people going to the meetings though (I'm in university myself currently). If we go to these events and represent the next generation, perhaps someone may listen!
