View Full Version : LEXINGTON | Kentucky's second city

Lexington is the second largest city in Kentucky, and home to the University of Kentucky. Lex is a good town, and worthy of a more in-depth tour than this one, which does not include any of the city's historic residential areas.

Paris, KY - a town of 9,000, located about 30 minutes NE of Lexington in Bourbon County. It had an excellent downtown for a town it's size (as do many smaller towns in Kentucky)

Nice pictures. Lexington does look like it deserves more coverage. The pictures of Paris and Versailles were nice as well.

Nice photoshoot. I've been through Lexington countless times driving to and from West Virginia. I have driven through downtown a couple of times. It's a little small for a city that large, but it's kept and well preserved. It could use another highrise and a few mid-rises. Thanks!!

Lexington's population figure is pumped up by the fact that the city encompasses all of Fayette County. I think it's a decent-sized downtown for the overall metro. Due to it's recent growth, however, I think Lexington's ratio of old neighborhoods-to-new suburban neighborhoods is a bit off.

Thanks folks!

I actually have a job offer in Lexington.. The others are in Pittsburgh, Birmingham (AL), and Morgantown (WV). Anyway, nice pics as always, thank you.

Those are great photos. I was really impressed with the streetscapes of Lexington based on its size, and both of those court houses are more impressive than many state capitols.

I have spent a lot of time there but never downtown. I am pleasantly surprised. There are a great group of nice old buildings which plenty of potential!

Thanks for sharing!

This view has completely changed... the new market pavilion is going up in the space occupied by the sidewalks and Cheapside.
