List locations where you see speed-traps setup on a regular basis, and how the trap is setup.

1) Regional Road 174 Eastbound between east of Blair and the Transitway overpass. Ottawa Police are positioned at the Transitway overpass pointing their radar guns on eastbound motorists (http://maps.google.ca/?ie=UTF8&ll=45.435179,-75.599059&spn=0,0.009624&z=17&layer=c&cbll=45.434805,-75.599588&panoid=5GQaAyWxeBbuP2ZuSdu1Yw&cbp=12,54.31,,0,-1.92). Police vehicles (regular marked police cruisers, unmarked cruisers, motorcycle) are positioned on the on-ramp.

Westbound on Walkley between McCarthy and Riverside, at the railway overpass. I'm guessing there is a lead cop in the bushes with a radio. There is a lineup of cops waiting in a hidden driveway just on the other side - similar to what they do on the 174. The limit is 50 but most people do 60+.

Regional Road 174 eastbound at the on ramp from St. Jospeh Boulevard (after the 10th line exit). Cops park in the ramp and get you from behind.

Innes Road: they usually park accross from Builders Warehouse (Boyer rd) and catch traffic going westbound: http://maps.google.ca/?ie=UTF8&ll=45.448706,-75.522058&spn=0.006609,0.02105&t=h&z=16

Blackburn Hamlet Bypass: they usually park at the crosswalk on the north side of the road (traffic light in the middle of nowhere) and catch people heading westbound: http://maps.google.ca/?ie=UTF8&ll=45.427522,-75.562549&spn=0.006611,0.02105&t=h&z=16

Montclair Blvd at the railroad crossing near the Galeries de Hull, there was often an unmarked cruiser there trying especially to bust motorist barreling under the A-50 underpass to/form the Saint-Redempteur curve

Responding to my own post.

Police were active during the noon hour at this very location.

That's a bad one there. The 50 km/h limit is a bit low (I would personally have it at 60, although some do faster despite the residential nature of the area). Most of Walkley is posted at 50, which in its entirety is too low (I'd bump all the 50 zones up to 60).

I generally avoid Walkley completely because the speed limit is too low and there are too many signals. I'd rather take Hunt Club.

Here are some more:

On the 416 under the Hunt Club Road overpass. This is a favorite of the OPP, they love to hide behind the pillars in the median and pick you off in both directions. There is a large paved apron here which makes it safe and easy for enforcement.

On the 174 eastbound about halfway between Blair and Montreal Road, there is a very small gravel access road. Due to the way the road curves and slopes downhill, you can't see a cop parked here, even in plain view, until its too late. This one is important to remember since you might get past the other trap on the transitway overpass just before and figure you're home free!

The police also set up shop east of McCarthy on Walkley as Walkley descends from the Airport Parkway overpass. These two locations are disgusting money grabs by the city. The speed limit should be 60km/hr given the width of the road and the natural traffic flow. Even if you take your foot off the gas, you end up speeding at the bottom of either hill.

They use the lights on Walkley as speed control. I figured out one time that if you drive the speed limit along most portions of it you will almost never come to a full stop at a light. It is sorta cool actually.
