How about we talk about something more important, like 2 of the top 3 in the east facing off tonight.:)
Flyers are scary and im definitely not cocky going into this game but we'll see how it turns out. Losing Markov again hurts, but we were 7-2-1 without him, so there's no reason to start losing now.

Thanks to PK Subban who has taken Markov's role and minutes...However, he still doesn't have his impact on the PP. We jumped from 6% to 15% PP in just 7 (or 8?) games with Markov.:(
quote from October 28, before Markov came back
PP still sucks but will get a huge boost this weekend with Markov coming back.
Currently dead last with only 6.2%:(

What heart. What determination. What a comeback. I don't know what Ron Wilson said during that first intermission, but it worked. This is why the man has nearly 600 wins.
The Leafs came out flying in the second period, and the Preds simply did not know how to respond. They just couldn't match the Leafs' speed and puck possession. They resorted to taking penalties in their desperation, but the Leafs made them pay. I guess that happens when your team isn't coached by a legend like Big Ron.
The Leafs are back. This looked like the team from the first four games: fast, young, and unrelenting. Chin up, Leafs nation. This elevator is heading back up to the penthouse.

I think you need to brush up on your definition of trolling.. cause that most definitely wasn't trolling..
As for the reference to me, yes I stay away during losing streaks because all of the Leaf haters swamp to the forums to yell aged and tired insults from the bandwagon. It is popular for people to hate on the Leafs, and even people who don't know hockey try it a few times (until you ask them to state any facts whatsoever). So of course I try to avoid it, it's a waste of my time because anything any hater has to say has already been said a million times. I merely came on to say that I was happy that my team broke out of the streak, and if any other team's fans had done that they wouldn't receive the mindless taunts and insults that us loyal fans receive on a daily basis.
It had to be said. That being done congrats to the Habs for your shutout, and I hope the Leafs continue to play like they did tonight in the 2nd and 3rd periods.

Canadiens deliver message with victory
MONTREAL -- The story of the Montreal Canadiens last spring was a beautiful one: the NHL's most passionate market electrified by a stunning Final Four appearance at the expense of powerhouses Washington and Pittsburgh.
Thing is, that's where most people figured the story would end entering this season. Turn the page, boys, come back down to earth. Playoff team? Sure. But two points from the Eastern Conference lead in mid-November? C'mon.
"The surprise is not that they're there, the surprise is that they've largely done it without Andrei Markov," an NHL team executive told ESPN.com Tuesday night.
Who would have thunk that?
On the night the Habs made it official that Markov is out long-term after reinjuring the same right knee he had surgically repaired last summer, life without Andrei resumed in brilliant fashion with a 3-0 victory over the powerhouse Philadelphia Flyers. The Habs are now 8-2-1 without Markov in the lineup this season.
There are wins and there are statement victories that carry more than just two points in the standings, they carry swagger points. The Flyers, for my money, are the best team in the Eastern Conference right now. They've got it all -- three scoring lines, forward depth that's insane, the best blue-line corps in the East and suddenly a Russian goalie named Bob who seems legit.
But in a rematch of last spring's Eastern Conference finals, when the Flyers ended Montreal's dreamy run, the Canadiens delivered a message not just to the mighty Flyers but to the rest of the conference: "We're ba-a-a-a-c-k."

One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument
One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers

Mike Richards is loser... talking about respect when he's one of the dirtiest player in the NHL.
Subban is amazing and should win the Calder... Richards and Crosby (earlier this season) were intimidated by Subban. PK was ready to fight but Richards declined...
Flyers' Richards blasts ‘cocky’ Subban
Rookie P.K. Subban's flamboyant style on the ice is starting to irk some NHL veterans.
Philadelphia Flyers captain Mike Richards teed off on the Montreal defenceman to The Team 990 radio after the Canadiens 3-0 victory on Tuesday night.
Subban had been in the midst of skirmishes that erupted in the third period after Montreal centre Jeff Halpern was put out of the game by a hit from Darroll Powe that the Canadiens felt should have been ruled a hit from behind.
“He's a guy that's come in the league and hasn't earned respect,” Richards told the radio station. “It's just frustrating:haha: to see a young guy like that come in here and so much as think that he's better than a lot of people.
”You have to earn respect in this league. It takes a lot. You can't just come in here as a rookie and play like that. It's not the way to get respect from other players around the league. Hopefully someone on their team addresses it, because, I'm not saying I'm going to do it, but something might happen to him if he continues to be that cocky.“
The Canadiens face the Flyers again in Philadelphia on Monday night.
Earlier in the season, Subban and Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby exchanged harsh words on the ice, which prompted Hockey Night In Canada analyst Don Cherry to warn the 21-year-old not to be overly cocky.
After practice on Wednesday, Subban told reporters he doesn't plan to change the way he plays.
“I think that I'm confident but I think that there's a lot of players that are confident in this league,” Subban said. “I'm not the only person that's confident when I play the game.
”That's what you have to do. Maybe the fact I'm a young guy coming in that maybe people don't take well to that. As long as my teammates and the coaching staff are happy with what I'm doing, I'm going to continue to do that.“
...
Subban became a favourite of the Bell Centre crowd when he joined the team late last season and was used heavily in the playoffs. He quickly became known for daring rushes up the ice and flashy spin moves to evade opponents. He also chatters a lot on the ice to teammates and opponents.
“That's when P.K. plays well — when he's under people's skin and forces people into poor decisions trying to hit him,” said Canadiens defenceman Hal Gill. “Then he can skate and wheel off and make plays.

He didn't say something *should* happen to him. He's saying something *might* - and to be honest, if he could speak freely he's saying something eventually *will*.
Guys who lip off too much, or act too cocky, eventually get what's coming to them. It's how it's always been in this game, at all levels. And there's no way I could possibly be threatening PK with that statement. Just like Richards.

Then why hasn't anything "happened" to Avery yet? The most despicable, rat-faced, dirty scumbag in the league? PK isn't even close to deserving anything "happening" to him as much as Avery does. Seriously, what exactly has he done to merit receiving a dirty hit? Like I said, Richards should stop crying to the media about a rookie and just fight him and settle it. Until then, he's on the losing end of this little spat.
Its not like Subban is some talentless hack running around. He's a very talented prospect who I admit does seem a little cocky and TBH I don't see anything wrong with that. Even to imply that he should pay some way or another is completely stupid.

No one's saying anything about "deserving" anything. Hell, if anything Richards is doing PK a favour by warning him about what could happen.
Trash talk in the media happens every single day in this sport, towards talented and talentless players alike. I'm not sure why you're getting so upset over such a non-story. Just because it happens to your team or your pet player doesn't mean it's any different than the other 10,000 times it happened this year.

Not really. Sure they get targeted by more hits than other players, but thats not what im talking about. Im talking about someone taking upon themselves to injure Avery, like plenty of other players have said "one day" will happen to him, but nothing ever does. Nobody takes it upon themselves to "teach him a lesson". Just like that EDM player (don't remember who it was) that said something along those lines after Avery sucker punched and edm player. Thats what I meant.
No one's saying anything about "deserving" anything. Hell, if anything Richards is doing PK a favour by warning him about what could happen.
Why should anything "happen"? Like I said, PK is a young talented player who likes to talk, thats it. He has never taken a run at anyone (unlike Richards) and has never been known to be dirty. Are players so insecure in the NHL that they have to make something "happen" just because a rookie dares to talk to them?

First of all, im not upset about anything. Just arguing things cause im bored. Second, 10,000 times? Think you might be exaggerating a little bit here? Sure trash talk gets exchanged from time to time in the media, but its pretty rare to see a player, especially with Richards' talent, mouth off to the media about a rookie and saying crap like "something might happen to him". All this is is Subban getting under Richards' skin and Richards whining about it to the media.

Ruutu bit a guy's ear, for shit's sake. And he's well known for being one of the league's major "pests" - maybe not an Avery, but that guy's in a class of his own. :haha:

Holy ****, I saw a stat that made me realize how good our defense really is. In fact, I think we have the best defense in the NHL. Best defensive squad I've ever seen.
After 18 games, we've never allowed more than 3 goals in a game in regulation. Tampa scored 4 goals once but the fourth one was in OT.
We have yet to allow 5 goals in a game.

There is some questions if that did happen.Yes rutuu is a pest my point is he is not as bad as avery.

lol, at Jokinen. Could this guy be any more of a joke? thanks again Darryl you F'n idiot.
Here's hoping the Flames actually win a few games come December, November is barely half over and it's already a write off.
Considering D. Sutter has a ridiculous amount of job security maybe not winning a single game for over a month is what it will take for him to finally get the boot.

I wanted Sutter to get the boot when he started at GM. He is not good as a GM, but as a coach.
Anyway, it seems to only get cloudier in Calgary.:(

Avery is definitely in a league of his own when it comes to being a pest. Here we have a guy slashing players legs behind the play, constantly running goalies, taking runs at players, sucker punching players right after refusing a fair invitation etc. but its somehow ok because he's a pest.
But as soon as a rookie dares open his mouth to the great Mike Richards something should happen to him. Its just stupid.
Yeah, I remember a year or two ago he took a cheap shot at Tim Thomas.

Jokinen suspended for 3 games. How will the Flames survive? Iginla will have to score more than once every 10 games now.

I even think calling him a pest is giving him to much credit.Watch rutuu yes he does some stupid things but as a rule its to try and help the team. What every does more times then not is just try and make cheap and dirty hits and plays with out any reason.I was watching a rangers game not to long ago they were up but 4 yet he is running around making dirty hits and slashs there was no reason for it.For what ever reason avery seems to get away with way to much the league has to come down hard on him soon.As for pk i give him credit i have no issue with him beeing cocky i hope he keeps it up.
Exactly, he has the right to be cocky... with no NHL experience (2 games only). He was called up during the playoffs last season scoring 8 pts in 14 games. Not bad for a 20 years old D-man. He led all rookies during the playoffs(I don't see why Leino was considered as a rookie at that time?).
In 20 regular season games, he's already picked up 10 pts.
Richards and Crosby were already owned by Subban... anyone else?;)
And BTW-Subban wanted to fight Richards, but the headhunter declined.

Speaking of the Flames, Iginla acknowledges that he knows why fans seem so desperate to run him out of town (while he still has SOME value) :P

BTW-If we exclude Tim "the robot" Thomas who has 4, Carey Price and Jaroslav Halak (who has cooled down) are the only goalies in the NHL with 3 SO or more.

Toronto 3 - New Jersey 1
Good win good win, Jersey's goal was kinda weak, I was hoping Gustavsson would get the SO but oh well..
2/3 PP was solid as well. Overall good job guys!

Why we always sucks against bad teams?
Our 6 lost were against Toronto, New Jersey, Colombus, Florida, Nashville and Ottawa. Only Ottawa(8th) is on pace to make playoff in all these teams...

So Toronto Calgary and Edmonton are the three Canadian teams all but guaranteed to miss the playoffs. Ottawa's on the bubble, so maybe just two Canadian teams in the playoffs this year.

And it could get much more interesting as the season goes on. Not that I expect it, but with 60+ games to go, who knows. Teams have had records similar to Vancouver or Montreal right now and completely imploded to the point of missing the playoffs.
Pretty sure the 3 you mentioned have almost zero chance of making it, but I've seen weirder. All it takes is the right trade and suddenly an underperforming team (or a team not great on paper) can go on a real tear.
We're coming up on 20 years without the cup in this country. Please, someone do it already!

Wait a second.. so if a Toronto fan were to say the team would make it into the playoffs (even if we were in 6th place or whatever), they would be met with a barrage of "it's too early" and "plan the parade!", and yet as of this moment they are being given no chance to make it in?
They are in 10th place right now by a point for christ's sake.

2 - 1 since Kadri was called up. Kadri is running things in the T Dot. You see Ron Wilson, you dumb bitch, you said Kadri wasnt ready and now you're 2 and 1 since he was called up, the first time in almost 2 months since you won two games in a row. And it was 2 months ago when the lingering of Kadri's Manness aroma had left the locker room, and got takenover by the Womaness perfume of Wilson and Peauneuf.
The Leafs are back in Town. Because of KADRI.

I know, it's kind of pathetic isn't it? It's getting to the point where I might even lower myself to cheering for Montreal if it means bringing the Cup back to Canada. I feel so dirty for saying that.

I know exactly what you mean. My biggest fear is that this will get so bad that eventually I'll find myself cheering for Toronto, just to get the cup back here.
Of course, then the psychedelic drugs will wear off and I'll realize what planet I'm on.

The cup spends its Summers in Canada. Until then, it doesn't need to belong to a team I detest :P
Marc Savard has been cleared to practice (finally), and Krecji is a game-time decision tomorrow against LA!

I thought that the cup in the summer travels for a few days with one member of the cup winning team.
