If the pick that got us Eberle came from the Pronger deal, it doesn't look so bad.
Also, Pronger was being a dick, which made it tough to trade him for anything really good at the time.

Majority of Canadians Believe Canadian NHL Team Can Win Lord Stanley’s Cup by 2013
The Montreal Canadiens were the last Canadian-based NHL team to win the Stanley Cup in 1993, and according to Canadians, the Habs (Les Habitants) stand the best chance at hoisting Lord Stanley’s Cup in our home and native land by 2013.
A survey of 1,503 Canadians conducted by Leger Marketing for Yahoo! Canada Sports shows that over 80 per cent of respondents believe a Canadian team can win the Cup by 2013 – the 20th anniversary of the Habs’ win.
While 24 per cent believe the Habs have the best shot at winning the Cup again, Canadians believe the Vancouver Canucks have the next best shot (22%), followed by the Ottawa Senators (11%), Calgary Flames (9%), with the Toronto Maple Leafs (8%) and Edmonton Oilers (5%) rounding out the list. Sixteen per cent believe no Canadian NHL team will win the Cup by 2013.

CAMMALLERI CONFIDENT IN CANADIENS' CHANCES THIS YEAR
The season hasn't even reached the halfway mark, but Montreal Canadiens forward Mike Cammalleri said he thinks his team has a shot at winning it all this year.
"I like our group, I think we're getting there, and I do believe we can do it for sure," said Cammalleri, speaking to TSN's That's Hockey host Gino Reda.
...
Although Montreal fell just short of the Stanley Cup last year, losing to the Philadelphia Flyers in five games in the Eastern Conference Final, Cammalleri said he thinks that run has benefitted the team this year.
"I just think we learned a lot last year from that experience. I would say the group's a little more experienced, a little more mature this year."
...
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=344982
BTW-
Veteran forward Ryan Smyth said the Canadiens were the most structured team the Kings have faced this season.

Agreed. After watching the game and seeing equal missed calls for both sides, I was just waiting to come on here and see Habs fans complain about the refs. Obviously the refs are on the Leafs side. They have to complain about something..
The Kessel goal was pretty weak but the Kaberle one was legit, that definitely would have gone in on Price. Either way, Toronto leads the season series 2-1.

Neither of the two goals would have gone in on Price. I don't usually complain about the refs, but they missed 3 clear high sticking penalties against the habs. You have to be pretty blind to think the reffing was evenly bad against both teams because it wasn't. I mean, even Martin lost it and started yelling at the refs. He never does that.
Anyways, we probably would have won if Auld didn't give up those two softies, so I'm not blaming this loss on the refs, no matter how bad they were.

Again, Kessel goal was weak, Kaberle's wasn't. It was a costly mistake by the defense that would have led to a goal on almost any goalie (except maybe Tim Thomas). And they missed the high stick on Cam yes, but it's no reason to say "I hate going to Toronto cause the refs give them the game, blah blah blah". The refs didn't throw the puck in the net, the Leafs scored their own goals. If you're going to complain about something go ahead, but at least give Toronto credit for going 3-2 against the top teams in the east..

Okay I watched the highlights again and yea it really was more of a weak goal than I thought..
And yes, I put the Habs in the "top teams in the east" category, because they are, no point in denying it, they're in 3rd place (4th in points), so they qualify as one of the top teams of the east..
The costly mistake by the defense was that they gave up the puck in the neutral zone that led to a 3 on 1 for the Leafs, and left Kaberle open on the left side.. If the Leafs get a 3 on 1 you know there was a defensive mistake..

Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment is pleased to announce Waffle House, the iconic U.S. restaurant chain, is opening its first Canadian location inside the Air Canada Centre.
"Until Thursday night's waffle-throw, we didn't realize how much Maple Leaf fans love waffles," Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment CEO Richard Peddie told AM640 on Sunday. "They love them so much they were smuggling them into the arena. That's a consumer insight we totally missed until now."
The new Waffle House is expected to draw huge crowds when it opens on December 20, when the Leafs are playing at home against the Atlanta Thrashers.
"Jack", the man who threw waffles onto the ice at the end of Thursday's game as the Leafs were booed off the ice, pledged to be there for the opening.
However, he isn't saying whether he will throw any waffles on the ice if the Leafs lose to Atlanta.
"My focus is going to be on eating as many waffles as I can before the game," Jack said. "If I have any leftover waffles, well it'll depend how badly the Leafs lose."
In other waffle-related news, Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf hopes waffle throws will become a regular part of not only Leafs games, but all hockey games.
"The hat trick and the tradition of throwing hats onto the ice started with a single man named Sammy Taft at a Leafs game over 60 years ago," Phaneuf told reporters on Sunday. "I'd like to see waffle-tosses every time the home team loses."
Waffle House has announced an opening night special: The 1967 waffle (named after the last year the Leafs won the Stanley Cup), in the shape of the Stanley Cup, with your choice of sauce for $3.49.

Also, as a warning:
theman23, do not go out of your way to insult and flame other users. That behaviour is not accepted. I've seen a pattern here in the NHL threads with you calling other forumers "idiots", "morons", and other assorted names. Stop.
Phusion and theman23, please follow the discussion or the thread topic. Do not go out of your way to troll the thread. It is not appreciated and you might no longer be able to post on this thread ever again.

I don't quite get the humour, but for those who haven't been fortunate to "enjoy" Waffle House - you're truly missing out.
Try a waffle and grits sometime. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Come on Luo, you couldn't hang in there for another 5 seconds? Oh well, 2-1 Canucks.
(Should have been 5-0 for the Canucks, Dubnyk robbed us quite a few times)

"Vancouver fans are generally classy"
When I lived in Van I was routinely harassed by fans at games... seems as though they didnt like my Oiler puck head, flag, foam finger, jersey, and occasionally thunder sticks.
Yeah, they were harassing you because they couldn't see the ice!

When I went to Oilers games at Rexall I was routinely harassed by fans for wearing my Canucks jersey. Whats your point?
that's fine... but being cornered twice by multiple 'fans' is not exactly what I call good fun.
never had that issue at another rink

EVERY fanbase has morons and they are proportionately the same for each fanbase!
I've worn my Flames jersey at Rexall many times and never had a major problem
Nor have I had a problem in Vancouver
And when I took friends who are Oilers/Canucks fans to the Saddledome there were no problems
Treat others with respect and they will reciprocate
Act like an assclown and they will too
Though after all those games I saw fights/altercations with drunks at the Skytrain/LRT/C-Train stations
Alcohol is the root of ALL these problems

"Alcohol is the root of ALL these problems"
wrong, idiocy at hockey games is... which is not ALL for the booze.
Honestly though, i had multiple incidents at canuck games where i was egged on, had things thrown at me, and physical altercations just because our team had won stanley cups and theirs had not and so they were crying.

My tickets are in the beer section of the 'Dome, and I've spent a lot of my life in the nosebleeds in general. I've been going to live professional sports for going on 3 decades now.
While I won't claim that ALL problems are 100% caused by alcohol, there's an amazingly tight correlation between how much booze has been drunk and how much of an asshat someone is. I've also never seen perfectly sober people get kicked out, start fights, throw things on the ice, fall several rows onto other people, spill their drinks on folks and not even apologize, or any of the thousand other things that drunk assholes do at hockey and football games.
The only proof needed is to witness the difference between weekday (when people aren't drinking heavily) vs weekend (when half the drunks can barely walk) games.
Sadly, the obnoxious drunks ruin it for the 10% of us who just want to have a beer in peace. :P

Not completely NHL related, but lastnight was the Teddy Bear Toss at the Calgary Hitmen game. It was a full house (except the nosebleeds), so a good NHL sized crowd of 15,000+ (much more than Phoenix, Atlanta, Florida, and several other teams anyways :P). 24,000 teddy bears were tossed on the ice when the Hitmen scored their first goal (enroute to a 2 - 0 win over Red Deer) and they'll be donated to 50 local charities. Cool event to go to :D!

The Hitmen usually compete with Quebec for highest attendance in the CHL

Well, they didn't have anybody sitting in the third deck, so I'm assuming they hold 3 - 4000 up there.
But yeah, the usual Hitmen games get between 5 and 10.
