The break after the icing in OT was annoying too.

Also Kane is diving a few games ago was much funnier.

Flames don't have 2 Art Ross winners and a potential Selke candidate.

I won't disagree here, that hit on Bieksa was a clearcut head shot.

Yes but Bieksa had the puck, and it was shoulder contact - a perfectly clean hit. There were plenty of plays that could have been called on both sides late in the third, but the refs decided to put the whistle away, which is expected in the playoffs.

Here is a post from another forum about the reffing

"The refs were AWFUL tonight!!!!!!!!!

Kelly Sutherland is from Richmond, BC. He is clearly overcompensating to make sure that he is not accused of ever being a Canucks homer.
Sutherland has a history of screwing the Canucks over. Remember the phantom boarding penalty on Burrows against Vernon Fiddler? That was girl's name Sutherland.
On Boxing Day 2008, this was the guy who made 4 famous bad calls for putting the Canucks in two 5 on 3 situations!

As for Wes McCauley, I am 90% sure that he is legally blind. He is known for not calling obvious high sticks. Remember when Dan Hinote high sticked Jason Arnott in a Colorado vs Dallas game?
Arnott was bleeding and McCauley went home with his walking stick and seeing eye dog. His father, John McCauley was a good ref, and must be rolling in his grave to see the disgrace his son has become.

1) Hamhuis checked frolik from the side not from behind. Plus it wasnt a clear cut breakaway...yet a penalty shot was called.

2) Daniel Sedin was clearly high sticked in the face from Bolland, right in front of an official. Not only an infraction but a dangerous act.

3) Bolland Slashed Henrik in front of the net, breaking his stick, which is a penalty.

4) Bolland tripped Edler with a slew foot, purposefully not called by an official.

5) Bieksa received a direct hit to the head, violating rule 48. Two refs saw it and no penalty was called.

6) Raffi Torres was boarded by Hjalmarsson. No call.

7) Alex Burrows got a punch in the face from John Scott after a whistle. No call."

The reffing in this game was a bit sketchy...

FX8KuJTRLNo
Pause the video at 5:53, you can clearly see Hossa with a hold on Alberts stick seconds before Hawks score in OT. Just another 1 out of 1000 missed calls by the refs this game. Not sure many people noticed this one.

This really is the key here. We'll have to agree to disagree on what is a clean hit - sorry, but there is no such thing as a clean head shot in this year's NHL, at least according to the commissioner and disciplinarians - but the refs were basically letting the boys play last night. Which means the dirtier team generally wins.

Which is why I'm shocked that Vancouver lost. :P

I still think Vancouver will pull out the series win, and Chicago pushing them to edge is maybe just what they need. If they beat Chicago, I think they'll win it all.

BTW, each time a Canadian city has hosted the Olympics, they've won the cup the following year....just saying..

Sorry to be a Dickie Downer, but there's no way the fragile Canucks are gonna win on home ice on Tuesday. May as well start planning for next year.

They outplayed Chicago, but just didn't get the bounces. I wouldn't count them out yet.

Speaking of outplaying other teams...Philly has been much, much better than Buffalo. If Philly's goaltending could stop anything smaller than a beach ball, I think they would be a shoe in for the cup.

Congrats Nashville! I'm so sorry to see the Ducks lose :D

Okay.

This is where I have to agree with Touraccuacy. As much as I dislike the Canucks, the Stanley cups won by Calgary and Edmonton mean diddly squat today. I find it pathetic when all people can do is bring up past glories when debating hockey.
Who gives a shit how teams did 5, 10, or 20 years ago? or 40 years ago in the case of the Leafs. The bottom line is, Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto aren't relevant right now. Those past cups or glories aren't helping them right now.

Ironically, Stauffer and Darren Dreger are on the radio right now talking about the hatred many people have for the Canucks. Their conclusion was Vancouver fans and the organization come across with a sense of entitlement and attitude when their history (even recent history) show little reason or excuse for this attitude.

It's one thing to have a sense of entitlement when you deserve it and have the history to back it up, Red Wings, Eskimos, Yankees, etc. But to mix this sense of entitlement with a pathetic history of mediocrity and failure....it's just hilarious to watch and easy to cheer against them.

I cheer for Montreal over Boston. I cheer for Nashville over Anaheim. I cheer for a good game no matter who's playing. What I don't do is cheer rabidly for a single team and piss all over every other team.

I really don't think some hardcore hockey fan forums are a good place to get a sense of breadth of a team's fanbase. By definition these forums would only attract the biggest superfan homers.

Don't take this the wrong way, it is an honest question: You say canucks fans are the 'biggest douches' because of what you read on these forums. So if you write the same sort of stuff over here, why does it make you 'right' rather than a douche?

Bulliver, I can't think of many examples on this forum when it comes to entitlement.

But using this forum as an example, would there still be as many Vancouver posters posting in this thread if Vancouver was a bottom feeder? What about if Calgary and Edmonton were contenders, would there be a vancouver like two, three or four fold increase in this thread from posters in these markets? probably not.

Vancouver suffers from way to many bandwagon jumpers. These people are typically the most ignorant, loudest, and the least knowledgeable....a bad combination.

Covered me in a single paragraph. I'm a HOCKEY fan first, and a *insert team here* fan second. Kinda comes with the territory when your local team is ripped out (RIP Jets), but it really just means that I love the game itself.

Rivalries add spice, but they're most certainly not the main course. You'll notice that most die-hard (and by this I mean the douches) fans of any particular team just so happen to have been born and live in that same city. They're not really fans of anything, they just wave the patriotism flag unthinkingly.

Speaking from personal experiences, the Canucks fans on SSP are much more tolerable than others that I know in real life. My dad has lived in BC for over a decade, and I've always found it very difficult to talk hockey with them. You're right about here though, that aside from one obvious example, the Canucks fans are quite reasonable.

You see me writing the same sort of stuff that gets sconadian banned? I'm glad we have more intelligent canuck fans on these forums, but that's certainly not the norm online and in real life. I'm not going to go on and on, as i don't want to paint all canuck fans in the same brush, but there is certainly a high proportion of unintelligent canuck bandwagon fans that shade the rest of the canuck fans in a bad light.
One only needs to take an opposing jersey into Rogers Center (or w/e its called now) to find out, and compare to the reaction if you did that anywhere else.

The no call on bieksa and the ice clean after an icing was bad.

Ayreonaut
Apr 26, 2011, 4:59 AM
The non-call on Bieksa was fine. He looked up, then looked back down at the puck as he got levelled. He really should have seen it coming when he looked up just seconds earlier. Skating with your head down is not the same as looking behind you for a puck (like Seabrook was because the puck was behind him), the two hits were different. The officiating wasn't biased, just relaxed (perhaps too much), lots of could-be penalties were overlooked going both ways.

As I type this Thornton wins the series for the Sharks, so my hope of a Washington-San Jose final is alive.

bickell lowered his shoulder to attempt a clean hit, bieksa lowered his head as the hit was coming. torres led with his elbow, went high and blindsided seabrook. but who cares? the game is over. and besides, the canucks are still the best team with a dangerous power play and on home ice. should be a tense game 7 here in chicago.

I'm not sure if I look forward to the game tonight between the Habs and Bruins...

Desharnais is out with an injury. He was one of our best forward last game.
Wizniewski is doubtful.:(:(:( Even if he plays, he might not be 100%.

And now I just learned the most pleasant surprise a Habs fan (or a hockey fan in general) can have.

STOP THE PRESSES! Chris Lee (finally!!) & Kevin Pollock refs for Game 6 #BosMtl #NHLPlayoffs #Habs #Bruins

http://twitter.com/#!/habsinsideout1/status/62703141665247232

For those that don't know Lee, he is the second worst ref in the NHL after Auger. Auger is as bias as you can get when calling penalties while Lee calls them completely randomly. You can't even understand what is going on and why that penalty was even called in the first place.

EDIT: Huge Tuesday of hockey with 2 Game 7s and a Game 6.

Vancouver 2:1

Detroit 6:1

Chicago 15:1
Buffalo 15:1

http://www.630ched.com/Blogs/DanTencersBlog2/BlogEntry.aspx?BlogEntryID=10230350

Is this guy a respected voice in Edmonton?

He thinks that Luongo has won a Vezina Trophy. I'm pretty sure 99.9% of Canuck fans have never heard of Dan Tensor, yet he thinks Canuck fans are blaming him, along with Gary Bettman and the referrees for their troubles. And he goes on to criticize Vancouver's safe injection site.

Surely you could find a more sophisticated representative for Edmonton than this guy?

I think Vancouver will win, but I really hope they complete the choke.

Oh, Edmonton could can find many people better than Dan Tencer.

Only 630 CHED can't.

Habs fans already throwing garbage on the ice. At least they came prepared for their riot.

Early whistle on a puck that crossed the line. Cue riot.

Riots can occur anywhere, even in the blandest of places:

I'm not one claiming Vancouver fans to be sane.

Game 7 tomorrow will be exciting. The Habs' 5 on 5 play this series has looked very similar to the garbage thrown on the ice.

Now for the Canucks vs. Hawks game :D

Cammalleri is a PLAYOFF MONSTER!!!

http://bit.ly/gAYd2a

About as clutch as you can get in the NHL. He has 10 pts (7 goals) in 7 elimination games with the Habs.

Price gave up a softie but otherwise was pretty solid.

1-1 tie with less than 2 minutes looks like overtime. Vancouver is pretty much done.
As I was typing this Chicago just scored the tying goal. I thought Van might actually pull it off.

This OT will be INTENSE!! Still say the Canucks will win.

You don't like this. You don't like hockey. Period.
I was sure that Toews would score in game 7. He's too good not to, but that was just sick. There's a reason he's a captain at 22 with a Stanley Cup and Olympic gold medal.

Chicago wins in OT.
Crawford > Luongo

Oh my... 2 min left in the game and you're on the PP leading 1-0. If Vancouver loses, this will be the worst choke in NHL history. Hopefully they score early in that OT.

Kesler will win it.

Toews has been a man on a mission tonight from the first puck drop. If anyone deserved that, it was him.

That said, Kesler has played a great game too (any idea why the Kesler-Burrows-Raymond line was split up?).

Chance after chance after chance to make it 2-0 and then give up a SH goal. We're not meant to win this game.

Or maybe we are, what do I know?

Congrats Canucks, but I have to admit: for those folks who think the shootout is a coin toss, well, sometimes game 7 OT feels exactly like that. The first fluke wins it all.

Edit: on a night when Canada could have been completely knocked out, both teams manage a win. Time to jump on the bandwagons for me. :haha:

Wow. Vancouver can breathe again. Great game, very entertaining game 7.
I swear there would have been a riot if Chicago scored on that PP. But, Campoli is awful. He was bad all game and not surprised he turned it over. Mind you, good play by Burrows.

Montreal and Vancouver take it to the finals.

Thank god the Canucks won, if they lost I would have lost $500.
I thought for sure they would have beaten Chicago in six.
That was too close and if they did lose, I think I would have broken my tv. That would be another $500.
