Glenn Healy is an idiot. I'd love for the Green men to be allowed just for the purpose of pissing him off..
Also it's a good thing the Globe and Fail is taking pot shots at their biggest market.. very smart of them. Cause Vancouver "fans" weren't leaving in the 2nd OT because it was getting late right? I'm telling you right now you'd never see that at the ACC in the playoffs..
You'd never see that at ACC because the leafs would have to make the playoffs first. :whip:

But I don't understand why people are so surprised. After all, Chris Lee was the referee for that one.

Wow guys.
That whole hooking vs. holding situation happens so often and it's almost always the hooking that gets called. After all, how'd the stick get in there in the first place? Watching the replay, he could have easily taken his stick out by pushing it down, and what a lot of players do in that situation is just let go of their stick to show they're not keeping it in there.
The announcers said it may have been a make up call for the boarding on Bieksa. As for too many men? Watch again, the ref was in the way, I don't know who it was on our team but they were trying to get around the ref at the bench for several seconds. Watch again.

VanDyke was ridiculous last night. He just took over the game. I have yet to see Pac do that. Thought he was also beastly before that thug sent him to the hospital.
Yes, VanDyke really was but keep in mind Pac played with GOMEZ!
Pacioretty have scored 1 goal every 42 minutes.
VanDyke on the other hand scored at a pace of a goal every 52 minutes
Here are some examples:
Perry scored a goal every 37 minutes
Kesler: 41 min
D. Sedin: 37 min
Iginla: 40 min
Habs list of goals per ... min, good for Pacioretty but sad for some vets.
Pacioretty: 42
Darche: 55
Gionta: 55
Kostitsyn: 64
Cammalleri: 65
Desharnais: 69
Pouliot: 70
PS. This is not to compare Pac with guys like Sedin or Perry but simply to give an idea of how good he was.

I am laughing at those that said Subban couldn't play defence a few months ago.
Gill and Subban shut down the top line (Horton-Krejci-Lucic) who combined for just 4 goals (only 2 in regulation) in those 7 games. The same Subban that shut down Crosby last year.
They already have 6 goals in 3 games vs Philly. Granted the goaltending is horrible but the defense of the Flyers is crap as well.

this place had the first real arena (denman with 10,000+ seats in 1911 till the 30s when it burnt down), first artificial ice surface, first city to number it's players, first to print game programs, first to make hockey a three period game, first to put blue lines on the ice and thus create zones, first to allow forward passing, first to award points for assists, invented penalty shots, first to allow kicking the puck (except into the net), first to allow changing on the fly, first to allow goalies to move from the net, and first to move goal judges off the ice surface. it's worth noting that the canucks have been around since the 50s and tried to get into the nhl earlier but weren't allowed in until 1970. obviously many of the games greats are from bc; yzerman, sakic, recchi, kariya, niedermayer, neely, etc, etc.

I see that Kris Versteeg was called with Interference at the same time as Marchand's Diving penalty.. I didn't watch the game so was it actually interference or was it just a straight up dive?
If it was because of the dive, then that's what needs to be fixed about the diving penalty.. there's technically no punishment if both players get 2 minutes in the box. It's either a dive or a trip (just using an example).

A little bit off topic but the Dogs reached the Western Conference final. It shows once again our incredible depth.
'Dogs win longest Game 7 in AHL history
Winnipeg native Dustin Boyd scored six seconds into the third overtime period on Monday, ending the longest Game 7 in the AHL’s 75-year-history and sending the Hamilton Bulldogs to a thrilling 2-1 win over the Manitoba Moose at Copps Coliseum in the decisive game of the North Division Finals.
Hamilton, the top affiliate of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens, advances to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight spring. The Bulldogs will battle the winner of another Game 7, as Milwaukee is set to host Houston on Tuesday night to decide the West Division playoff champion.
This was the 17th Game 7 in league history to go to overtime but the first to extend to a second overtime, let alone a third.
http://theahl.com/-dogs-win-longest-game-7-in-ahl-history-p171048
The Dogs are also the last Canadian team (and the last team which is affiliate of a Canadian team) to a win a AHL championship.

manitoba losing will benifit the Canucks. This means any injuries incurred by the nucks will be filled by the best available on their farm team.

And another thing to add to a potential SJS-Sharks series.
Same time zones, which will hugely benefit the players.

Detroit doesn't want to die... they made a second straight third period comeback to force a game 7.

Possibly the play of the series and definitely one of the best back-checks of all time. The more I watch this, the more impressed I become. This guy deserves a chance to play.

Amazing how far and fast the little bugger went. :worship:

Man... I would love to see Jagr in a Habs uniform even if it's for 1-2 years. His chemistry with Plekanec is unbelievable.
Plekanec-Jagr: 4
USA: 0
Note that I don't care about the tournament but saw the third period.

^ I'm not a Habs fan, but that would be sweet!
Jagr, Selanne, and Lidtstrom seem like the ageless wonders, they should never retire!

If I was a Nucks fan, I would hope for a San Jose win because Datsyuk is a man on a mission.
If only Boston had not blown their 3-0 series lead last year...we were going to Cup finals.:(

I want SJS, their defense does not contain the big L, Lidstrom is a beast for his age.
Plus Kesler-Datsyuk would cancel each other out :P
Sedins want Detroit for the swedish connection.

Vancouver Sun columnist Response to the Edmonton writers (http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/Dear+rest+Canada+please+your+hockey+team/4769549/story.html)
"Are the Vancouver Canucks Canada's Team? ... No. They're not." -Edmonton Sun sports columnist Terry Jones, in his May 6 column.
"Canucks as Canada's team? No thanks" -April 28 posting of National Post blogger Joe O'Connor, in which he stated he would rather starve than cheer for the Canucks.
"Of some 2,500 posts related to the Vancouver-Nashville series on the Flames Forum at calgarypuck.com, the vast majority are virulently anti-Canuck ..." -Calgary Herald sports columnist Kevin Brooker, in his May 9 column.
As you can see, the rest of Canada, which we here in Vancouver officially refer to as A Good Place To Be From, has been busy reminding us that they do not like our hockey team.
What they really mean is they do not like Vancouver.
This, of course, is nothing new to Vancouver. The rest of Canada has always hated us because we're the prettiest girl in school, and the less pretty girls -you know, the kind who dress all in black and think they're intellectuals because they looked up "existentialism" -like to think we are dumber and shallower than they are, which normally we would respond to, except that we're too busy right now brushing our hair. We're getting ready to go out. We have a totally bitchin' night ahead of us. We're going out dancing.
The rest of Canada says, oh no, it's not you. It's nothing personal. It's not envy or anything like that.
We just don't like your team, the rest of Canada says. They're not Canadian.
Well, okay. Point taken. There is Ryan Kesler, who is American, and therefore someone who is only being nice so he can steal our oil and water. There are the Sedin twins, who National Post blogger Joe O'Connor referred to as "identically brilliant but somehow bland" -by which he means, I can only suppose, that he prefers brilliance with a side order of criminal charges and drug abuse, or that the Sedins have yet to commit the requisite violence needed to make it into a Don Cherry Rock'em Sock'em video. And there is Roberto Luongo, whose hair gel is Italian.
In our defence, we would point out the obvious, that many Canadians are not from Canada -Exhibit A, most of Vancouver -which even the Conservatives had figured out by election time.
