Who's Jumbo Joe gonna challenge to a fight tonight? Henrik Sedin? Maybe Sami Salo? I know he wouldn't challenge Kevin Bieksa, because he knows he would get Rick Rypiened.

Go Canucks Go!

A non fighter challenge Bieksa? Nah.. Bieksa needs his non-fighters with their backs turned to jump them and start throwing. (cough.. Stalberg)

Bieksa clobbers Marleau, and so Ben Eager, wanting to even up the score, decides to charge at Daniel. How that isn't 5 minutes I have no idea.

I wouldn't say hes one of the most interesting UFA this summer.
Also as much as i like Markov he isn't top 5-10 anymore. His injuries past couple seasons hurt his cause and at his age 33 he is past his prime.

He's actually 32:P and that's not past his prime. D-man peak at a later age than forwards.

Wisniewski also had 2 serious knee injuries within a year but seems to be fine right now.:)

Anyway if he's still free on July 1 (which probably won't happen) he will get offers of more than 6M+

Markov is tied for second among D-men for pts/game post-lockout with... Lidstrom.

Markov and Subban playing for a full season possibly means 70 pts+ for Marky and a PP close to 30 %.

That video is hard to determine exact position, lol, not to mention in your video it's still not "from behind" like you said.

Here are two other vantage points which shows Stalberg see Bieksa coming, it would have been a penalty but Stalberg was stupid enough to drop the gloves the second bieksa came at him.

Did you see it was Marleau who dropped the gloves first and marleau threw the first punch. :koko:

Clowne doesn't even fight "real fighters" :P

Clowne or Eager would get a nice superman punch courtesy of Bieksa
ao-RKWBdiDk

Clown and Eager should keep their emotions in check, taking stupid penalties will kill their chances.

All good Dmen get inflated prices on the open market.

Look at this list, no Markov.

Anyways as a GM would you spend more on Markov who is 32, or use it to buy someone younger like James Wisniewsky or Christian Ehrhoff?
(btw Markov should stay a hab, no matter what, but if he leaves I think he'll become a Cap)

We have enough D-men already for next year.

Think about it: Gomez had 41 pts in the 45 games Markov played last year.

When he was not there: 18 pts in 33 games

Take a look at the takeaway stats for the Habs since the lockout (they started recording them in 2005): Markov leads the team every single year.

The most telling stats about him though is the PP. Keep in mind the Habs have always had crappy forwards playing with him.

05-06: 19.2 %, 5th in the league
06-07: 22.8%, 1st in the league
07-08: 24.1%, 1st in the league... BY FAR
08-09: 19.2%, 13th in the league
09-10: 21.8%, 2nd in the league (played only 45 games, so it could have higher)

So I would want Markov (even though there is a risk of injury) before trying to sign Wiz or any other UFA.

CBC caught it on tape, :haha:

Hopefully no suspension for Eager!

I feel sorry for Marleau, he felt bad for letting Bieksa score that goal, and to try to make it up for the team he fight bieksa.
Instead of sparking the team he sparked Eager into going into a mad man.
Not to mention something must be wrong with his team mates, not one person talked to him after that fight.

The canucks did what they needed to.. park guys in front of Niemi. Nice to see the Sedins make a comeback and even Rome get a piece of the cake lol
Then again they're headed to the roaring HP Pavillion which is notorious for bad reffing/no-calls. Expect Boyle/Eager to injure some canucks scott free and a likely flukey Sharks win.
If the Canucks simply keep this up...shots shots shots shots shots shots,, they'll still have the edge assuming they don't suffer any injuries.
However, overall this series has been exciting but it's paled in comparison to the final Detroit/San Jose game.

Man I hate this style of hockey. Not that I in any way think the Canucks are wrong for playing it, nor do I get mad when my Flames do it (it's just how hockey is played these days), but I just wish we could go back to more skill and less "block the goaltender's view and hope you fluke the puck by him". No idea how to make that work though.

If you watch the vid, only 2 goals were affected by a screen. And the two are barely screens because Niemi was in transition.

I doubt there will be noncalls because Colin Campbell and Bettman, like last night's game, will likely be in attendance.

although Eager's goal was GI and the refs gave it just because it wouldn't really affect the game

It was a close call, but I think it should have just been a 2 minute boarding call. It was sort of on the threshold between shoulder and from behind.

I don't disagree with it enough to say that it was a bad call, but I would have called it differently.

I'll agree that the inconsistency is ridiculous. Sometimes hits like this get 5 and a game, then something worse gets a minor penalty, or even less. I'd be all for cracking down on hits like tonight's (since, obviously they can be dangerous), but the league needs to be more consistent.

Another reason to cheer for Roloson and the Lightning (http://www2.tbo.com/sports/lightning/2011/may/19/23/menewso1-a-little-boys-short-story-melts-the-ice-ar-208492/)
TAMPA --

Dwayne Roloson, Tampa Bay Lightning goalkeeper, has been a star most of these Stanley Cup playoffs.

Then again, he has help.

There's a small green shamrock painted on the back plate of Roloson's goalie mask — a shamrock with the initials KR inside it. And there are the letters TDLO for "The Dream Lives On."

It's for a friend, a former camper at Roloson's summer goalie school, a boy not unlike Roloson's young sons, Brett and Ross. The shamrock is for a remarkable boy who'll always be 12, with a mop of hair and smile that could melt the ice.

It's for KR.

Kelly Ryan.

"I'm honored to have him with me," Roloson said.

"The dream lives on, that's true," said Phil Ryan, Kelly's father. "Every day I watch Roli in the playoffs, even though Roli's name is on the sweater, … Kelly is there. He's in the Eastern Conference Finals."

He came into this world on Chicago's Southwest Side on Oct. 9, 1997, a month premature.

Kelly Thomas Ryan was in a hurry.

Phil Ryan is a cement finisher. His wife, Chris, is an office manager. They have two daughters, McKenna and Hannah. Kelly was in the middle.

Phil was a goalkeeper. He put Kelly on skates at 6, and a year later Kelly went between the pipes. He wasn't the biggest kid, but he worked hard and rose through the youth hockey ranks. Like we said, he was in a hurry.

"The NHL, that was Kelly's goal since he was 10," Phil said.

Along came Roli.

I absolutely hate games that Eric Furlatt is the ref in. It becomes all about HIM and the penalties he'll call, and the whole game is a PP for someone.

EDIT: lol this is obscene, 3 5 on 3 goals for the Canucks in the 2nd.

San Jose fans and others complaining about officiating, saying that the refs are screwing them over.

LOL!

It is laughable. At least this time were killing penalties and scoring on the PP.
I expect we'll see a couple of 5 on 3s for San Jose in the third. I'm just kind of laying here on the couch totally not into the game.

That's hockey!

I say since both fanbases are pissed off the Refs are doing their job, lol.

Many Canucks haters are complaining about the 5on3s, but they they fail to notice that two calls were Too many men on the ice and DOA, only have players to blame for those ones.

Nice win, too bad Luo couldn't keep the shutout. Good chance of my wish coming true!
(My wish was for Van to win at home in 5)

:P

Funny considering 2 of the 3 teams I've ever been a ticket holder of are still playing, and are both within 6 games of a championship.

And if Boston should play Vancouver there is a 100% chance that one of the teams I follow will win the cup.

The 1/3rd Flame fan of me gave of bitterness a long time ago. :jester:

And Eric Furlatt is a well known attention whore :P You never even hear what the other refs name is when he's involved.

It's nice to see the Canucks *can* actually win without even trying. 13 shots, 7 in the last 2 periods? lol

So is this guy a Flames, Canucks, or Bruins fan?? I don't get it?

You can be all 3! I have lived in 2 of those cities, and spent an extended amount of time in the other.

The Dogs come back from a 3-0 series deficit to force a Game 7 (only the third AHL team to do so).
They won Game 6 in double OT.
Drew MacIntyre with 57 saves!!! Nice acquisition at trade deadline.
Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today that the team acquired goaltender Drew MacIntyre from the Atlanta Thrashers, in return for Brett Festerling. MacIntyre is scheduled to join the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs.

Thats pretty convenient. Then you always have a team to cheer for in the playoffs :haha: Might get accused of being a bandwagoner though :haha:

Most people who use the term "bandwagoner" don't really understand that it is indeed possible to follow the *game* itself, and have favourite teamS. When Winnipeg comes back next season, I figure with 3 I must have a chance of one of them making the playoffs, right? RIGHT? :haha:

Calgary, Winnipeg and... ?

Oddly enough, Ottawa. I needed an underdog team when the Jets left, and they fit the bill perfectly.

I just have to get this off my chest, I flipping through the channels when I came across Cherry's corner, there he was in all his glory dressed like a clown with his stool jacked up so he towers over Mclean ,then the windbag hit a new low by mentioning Victoria day and the victory of Bernard Hopkins over Pascal (who surprise surprise is a Quebec native) what purpose did this serve other than to stick it to the frenchies?. For the love of god get this senile bigot of the air

Unfortunately this will never happen. Controversy is good for TV ratings. That's also the only reason why they keep the mentally retarded Jack Edwards on NESN.

I've seen enough videos of him to know not a single announcer is worse when it comes to homerism.

Bruins are currently losing. I said it when the series started, Boston doesn't have the skill to compete with Tampa.

Yume-sama
May 24, 2011, 12:53 AM
I'm not entirely certain why being a "homer" on a local TV station that is only broadcast in the home market is a bad thing :P

And yes, Tampa may well win the series, which would make it quite the easy cakewalk to the Cup for the Canucks.

Which is fine, as I'm leaving the Country on the 13th of June and I'd prefer to see it over before I go :(

I really expected the Bolts to go back to playing Roloson, since he's carried them so far. But as long as Smith is solid, I don't really mind.

Gagne just keeps on scoring, picking up where he left off from last game. And playing for that big fat contract!

:D Only 1 win away from a Boston / Vancouver Final now. That would be epic, wouldn't it?

I have a feeling this series goes to 7, though.

WOW... what a lucky team!!!

When you have the puck stopped by a linesman with a minute left in the game (which led to an off-side) you know bounces aren't going your way.

It also took a blatant missed call and a miracle save by Tim Thomas. Really, Boston has no business winning the series. Vancouver will have an easier time with the Bruins. The only problem is that one of the Sedins will end with a concussion.

SpikePhanta
May 24, 2011, 4:25 AM
Boston's defensive system will not help the sedin's point totals, but it will lead to a Kesler ConN Symthe Win.

Also H.Sedin leading nhl in points, does anyone remember me saying the sedin's will fare well against San Jose?

Yume-sama
May 24, 2011, 4:39 AM
Yes, those cheaters in Boston constantly exploiting that relatively obscure rule of scoring more goals than the other team, eh Nicko :P

Vancouver would score enough goals on the PP alone in a BOS/VAN series to eliminate the Bruins.

Meanwhile the Bruins have about a 50/50 chance of scoring another PP goal before the start of next playoffs.

I'm scared of a potential BOSTON-VANCOUVER Matchup for:
1) The Campbell factor.
2) Boring ass series that will remind everyone (including Sedins) of the NAshville Series
3) Don Cherry is going to be a loud one on HNIC
