Not exactly what I was hoping for when I first heard of this proposal however for Sackville it's not bad.
Basically the proposal is for two 4/5 storey buildings on a common podium on lands across from Payzant's Home Hardware in Lower Sackville. The good news is the architect for the project is Kassner/Goodspeed so there is a decent chance this will turn out somewhat attractive.
All of the information available is here; Case 16416 (http://www.halifax.ca/planning/Case16416Details.html)
P.S. I'll add in the renderings once I get on my personal computer this evening or tomorrow.

This project has changed dramatically;
The proposal is now for ONE four storey apartment building on the site. Other than the extra height this will be a 'Sackville Special' project consisting of wood construction, exterior parking, little to no street appeal, and four stories in height which with the exception of this site is the maximum for as-of-right buildings.
Here (http://www.halifax.ca/commcoun/nwcc/documents/NWPACtoNWCCCase16416combined.pdf) is the report going to Northwest Community Council next week for first reading.
BTW moderators the thread title should now be; [Sackville] 249 Sackville Drive | 18 m | 4 fl | Proposed

This is a rendering of the Whimsical Lake Developments apartment complex planned for Lower Sackville.
Halifax developer Sol Ghosn broke ground this week on a $20-million high-end apartment complex on Sackville Drive.
“The population of Lower Sackville has grown faster than the availability of upscale rental units and there is a demand for something in the higher end,” Ghosn, owner of Whimsical Lake Developments, said in an interview.
Whimsical Lake is behind some high-profile developments in central Halifax, including the Vincent Coleman complex on Bayers Road and the Lexington, at Robie and Cunard streets.
Ghosn has developed about 1,000 rental residential units in the Halifax-Dartmouth area in the last 20 years. He said he is heading into Lower Sackville confident the community can support rents averaging $1,200 for a central location.

If this actually pulls off being upscale in Sackville, it will be a first.
