I've given up on the snow list because the Prairies doesn't have snow data.

PrairieGirl

Here's the discussion on prairie snowfall data (has to do with those light :haha: winds the prairies are prone to get):

"“There is a whole lot of reasons why measuring snow is very difficult and a very inaccurate science,” said Trevor Hadwen, agroclimate specialist with Agriculture Canada.

He receives his information from one of Environment Canada’s automated snow gauges located at the Regina airport.

Those gauges work well when there is a heavy snowfall or rain with no wind, but they tend to miss a lot of precipitation when the wind is howling, blowing the snow sideways."

It's warming up nicely across the Prairies, considering the record cold that was here this weekend. For instance, Edmonton set a new record low over the weekend when the temperature fell to -36.1C without windchill. And this week, temps will be up in the mid to single high digets across the Prairies. A sign that we are still in fall, a transitional time of year.

It's so weird with the wind today. Downtown (at least my particular corner of it) is usually one of the windier parts of the city thanks to the wind tunnel effect, but today I'd swear the winds are 10-15km/h max. The reports I'm hearing are far from that however.

I was outside downtown and they were definitely faster than 10-15km/h, hence having to lean into the wind to walk. The gust I was in was probably 70km/h easy. I don't know if the 100km/h gusts actually hit Calgary or not, the SW corner of the province was recording some even higher than that though.

A huge windstorm in Calgary with gusts to 130 k/ph. Downtown has been closed to all traffic because of breaking windows showering glass on the streets. Trees are blocking streets, roofs are coming off.
There is a blue spruce about 7 storeys tall whose root ball has come loose of the ground and might hit my apartment building when it falls. It is so weird to see the ground heaving up and down as the roots tear loose.

Thats crazy the damage in downtown Calgary. From what I saw the airport only reported winds up to 90 to 90 km an hour. The towers must create a strong wind tunnel effect.

Was a beautiful day here for the Grey Cup. Was mainly sunny this afternoon with a warm 12 degrees.

The hotspot in BC was Abbotsford with 15, but many other areas along the coast were 12 and 13.

in the interior Ashcroft was the warm spot at 14, Kamloops was 12.

Seemed to be a mild day across a lot of Canada today for the end of November.

It was forecast for 10cm or more, but mostly the warning comes from the winds - and it's really aimed at people driving on the highway. While Calgary laughed today off, the highways were pretty dicey and would have been much worse if the full storm had hit.

It's better than the alternative - a windstorm nobody warned about, crippling the downtown core and everyone throwing up their hands saying "we didn't know this could happen!". Plan for the worst, hope for the best. ;)

I sure do, and as a result I've learned over the years that being completely ignorant of the weather and blindly living my life as if it has no possible impact to my health and safety is ... well, stupid is the most polite way to put it.

But I guess this is why we hear so many sob stories about people stranded in blizzards, when any fool knew to stay home.

Why did you do that? So, you are saying that you never checked the weather before skiing? That is stupid.

Lol, that isn't true. Anyway, I actually post pictures so I have the right to argue now and then.

The official high temperature in Moncton today was 16C, but my car thermometer said 18C on a couple of occasions. There was also occasional warm sunshine and I'm sure there could have been a humidex reading.

It felt like June. :)

Cold start to December...

Only went up to -1C with overcast conditions (was sunny this morning).

The Canadian warmspot was Grates Cove, Newfoundland at 15.9C. They had a dewpoint of 14C over there. Not bad for December at all.:D
