This is an urban regeneration project located in and around an old commercial harbor on the bank of the Rhine, just south of the city's cathedral.

Wow, that looks like something from Halo, its incredible, great photos too, really shows off that amazing architecture. I love the futuristic buildings just looming over the old buildings, incredible.

All of these Euro waterfront "renegeration" projects all appear to have the same exact architects designing the buildings. Not that it's a bad thing - I love the geometric facades!

Yup, Hafencity etc all look somewhat similar...yet cool and futuristic. IMO the perfect setting for a 22nd century movie. :D

Great stuff, I really like this project. Any idea if it might get scaled up to be something big like the Docklands in Melbourne? Can anyone think of a "Western Country" that has done a redevelopment of old port land as large as Docklands?

The Hafencity in Hamburg is relatively big. Not sure if it's as big as the project in Melbourne though.

Oh my god, that modern architecture is simply outstanding, best Ive seen anywhere. Im so jealous.

And not to forget, the little "archrival" of Cologne, Düsseldorf,
has a very modern part, too. It´s called Medienhafen and even has some
stuff from Gehry as far as i know.
And the best thing is that in this area live the most laid back germans.

Cologne is perhaps my most favorite German city. I love the feel and ambiance of the city center and really was impressed by the new seaport development. Dusseldorf was also impressive, especially it's historic harbor and shopping district.

Cool. Cologne is usually regarded as one of the uglier big German cities by most Germans. It did suffer a lot of damage during WWII but I still think it's a great place to live. All those other Germans are just jealous. :D

London - they've been building on it for 30 years since it all went derelict in the 1980s, they were once the largest docks in the world back in the day. The area is actually larger than the centre (on the map marked out by the 12 big train termini):
