In the most unpredicted set of circumstances, allegedly linking the current mayor to a major Payola scandal, Joe Fontana has privately announced his intention to resign as Mayor of London; a position that he only recently acquired in a close race with three-time elected former mayor, Anne-Marie de Cicco-Best. Many have speculated that the main reason for the latter's ignominious defeat was due to the activities of her husband, Timothy Best, whom the former mayor married shortly after meeting at a London Knights playoff game in 2006.

de Cicco-Best, upon learning of the allegations directed against Mr. Fontana, said that "This vindicates what we've been saying all along. I intend on asking Elections Canada to consider overturning the results of last Fall's election." When asked if she would stand for mayor once again, the indefatigable de Cicco-Best said "Absolutely."
