Check this machine out. Modern rail system in a jiffy.
I got this in an email and it is awesome! WOW
Just not sure how to cut and paste it. Let me know if it works?

That looks very suspicious. I'm glad I had FlashBlocker.
It's from a .ru site and I see nothing referring to rail in its URL.

It worked on my laptop. I tried it when I re-logged in.

Looks like a cool machine and an interesting way of laying down rail
All we need to do now is get an exclusive ROW from Windsor to Quebec City, get $40 billion and HSR will be on its way :D

Although it would be really nice, I won't hold my breath.

Man all those moving parts, all have to be coordinated and timed precisely right..
Imagine if one thing stopped working even a little bit? Madness.

Interesting process. Still a lot of manual labour involved, I wouldn't want to be sticking my hands too close to those machines or be one of the guys riding on those seats inserting the little spacers!
That's a tie replacing/ballast cleaning thing. I live by a rail yard, I've seen those go by before. It replaces the ties, and cleans the oil and debris out of the ballast (rocks below), because that poses a fire hazard. If you look closely, it isn't laying rails, it is simply lifting them to get the new ties underneath. I'm pretty sure the system CP uses to do this is more automated, because I've never seen that many people around it when they go by. They're pretty fun to watch, they remind me of giant insects.
Rail grinders are also really cool, they seem to like running them at night, which is awesome. They polish the rail so that trains run smoothly.

I've seen this in person a few times and it never fails to captivate me. This is about the time of year that they do all this, as well, so you might see them yourself if you're near a railyard.
