One of the best parts of this is the west side will front onto a new park, so there is tremendous opportunity for some restaurant / coffee shop patios to open onto the park.

Hopefully. Lots of delays in the recent projects. Hoping that the projects supposed to start this Spring/Summer don't follow the same path. An article from November on their website says a Q2 2013 start, but under the projects tab it says a Q3 2013 start.

Probably the most underrated proposal in Calgary....... underrated in how much of an impact it will have. Most people don't realize how much this will be a game changer for East Beltline.

The proposal is only a year and a half old, and we haven't even passed the time that they said they intended to begin construction (spring 2014), so I don't think it would be fair to call it a pipe dream just yet. If we hit next winter and still nothing, then yeah.

They city only received the DP for this back in April 2013, and it's far from a pipedream. The GC has been tendering out contracts for this and the tendering process had stated a start date of fall of 13, or spring of 14.

Absolutely as it would bring more pedestrian traffic into Victoria park which will drive more retail into the area. Something Victoria Park lacks right now.

It'll bring more vibrancy and retail, and also very important will be the way it helps extend 12th into Vic Park. Right now 12th dies at McLeod Trail, but this will tie 12th further along to the Guardian/Arriva/Casino block
