I have looked, and the only information for this project is in the compilation thread for Miami. It does not seem to have a dedicated thread for it given the scope of the project. There has been some recent news concerning this massive project too. And the project website is still under construction. The project has been approved. In 2012.

---------------------------------------------------

OVERVIEW: 20 Million Square Feet

One of America’s most exciting cities is giving rise to a vibrant new center. At almost 30 acres, Miami Worldcenter achieves the heights of a world-class destination. A dynamic urban core of diversity and excitement, Miami Worldcenter brings a new energy to Miami with a compelling blend of exceptional retail, restaurants, entertainment, hotel, residential and commercial offerings in one unique location.
Miami Worldcenter

The Miami World Center is a nine block mixed-use development immediately north of the Central Business District in downtown Miami. It is defined by NE 2nd Avenue to the east, North Miami Avenue to the west, NE 11th Street to the north, and NE 6th Street to the south. Spanning over twenty five acres, the Miami World Center includes a dynamic mix of retail, residential, office, and institutional uses. It will create a vibrant, walkable pedestrian environment with a unique sense of place: a modern design statement driven by Miami’s unique physical context, culture, and architectural heritage.
These nearly 30 acres in the heart of downtown Miami will be transformed into one of the largest private master-planned urban environments in the world. With up to 20 million square feet of buildable area, this is not a project or a development – it is a city within a city :)

According to exMiami, the owners of the planned Miami Worldcenter megaproject have picked up two more pieces of land in their quest for world domination. Already having caused a big brouhaha when they snagged Grand Central Park, they are now said to be the purchasers of the recently sold Grand Central Nightclub across the street and the former Camillus House site at 726 NE 1st Avenue. And the Worldcenter real estate shopping spree shows no signs of stopping. We can only speculate at how big this project will eventually be.

Miami Worldcenter – Condos, Residences and Floor Plans

Although is too early to tell how many residential towers this project will feature, but considering the developer is still looking to expand the project. Worldcenter has not released any information but its safe to assume this will be happening soon. Taking advantage of the huge monetary power brought by foreign buyers that still drives in. Read more about “Miami, Dubai and London among the top global cities enjoying double digits price Growth”
We update this website daily, so expect to see more information about the Miami Worldcenter condos, residences and floor plans as soon as released.

Miami Worldcenter – Location

Although still one of the most desolate areas of downtown Miami, the Worldcenter land and its immediate environs have a big, big future, including of course the Worldcenter itself, that new Zaha tower about a block away to the east, and the new All Aboard Florida train station about a block away to the south.

Some news:

Miami Worldcenter to break ground this year

The project is scheduled to break ground late this year and is deemed one of the largest urban developments in the country.

If construction goes as planned, the center will open up to the public late 2016.

Besides the retail space, the Miami Worldcenter will also house the new Marriott Marquis World Convention Center Hotel, which will hold about 1,800 rooms and 600,000 square feet of convention space

All Aboard Florida, the private passenger rail that will connect Orlando to Miami, will build a stop across the urban center, which will be located between South Beach and Miami’s Central Business District

Stay tuned for more information.

Miami Worldcenter has received approval from the city for its plan to pedestrianize portions of two streets as well as construct a building that spans over a third, with city commissioners enthusiastically endorsing the proposal. Apparently the city doesn't technically own the streets, so they can't really ask for compensation, and as for traffic this might create, that's Worldcenter's problem.

Miami Worldcenter Creating Urban Mall With Closed Streets

Miami Worldcenter wants to create urban pedestrian promenades with shops and restaurants, à la Lincoln Road, on two of the public streets it's trying to purchase from the city. They plan to construct a building spanning over the third, a block of NE 8th Street, and return it to public use. By sheer square footage, the Worldcenter people say they are giving more area to public use than they are taking away.

Critics have complained that the price the city is being paid by Worldcenter is far too low. Worldcenter's lawyers say the streets, although ceded for public use, aren't technically owned by the city but by adjacent landowners, according to original platting a century ago. Thus the city cannot technically sell them. Worldcenter says closing the streets will weave together the project with the new condo towers to the east. Other critics say the street closures will ensnare traffic, especially during Heat games, where the streets act as dissipators. But at Worldcenter, cars can hit the road, jack.

Yea older renderings. The project is still being developed. With anywhere from 15-20 million square feet or more, things could change. Miami is definitely turning into a mini Manhattan in a way. It is already known as the Manhattan of the South. Although just my opinion,South Florida really isn't the true South. Its more like a hybrid of the Northeast. Now Northern Florida, especially the rural areas, could be considered pretty Southern in a way. But anyways, foreign capital along with a influx of Northerners is helping fuel this great boom. I hope that the intensity only continues!

Might be. I'm looking forward to the official height figures. IDK, from the rendering it looks like maybe its the 3rd or 4th tallest but maybe its just perspective. Although in terms of height, this won't eclipse the other mega project, City Centre, which will also boast a supertall in phase 2.

Wow! would love to own an investment condo here.

The residential tower architecture looks to be high-quality but not groundbreaking (in fact it's very similar to the so-called "glass boxes" going up in Toronto)

I think the podium scale, mixed use layout, subtle art deco accents on the podium landscaping, indoor/outdoor integration and water features are what truly make this world class! Toronto has a lot to learn from Miami.

Along with a submittal to enlarge the Miami Worldcenter special zoning 'atlas' (by which we assume they mean 'area') to include the Marriott At Miami Worldcenter megahotel and convention center on the former Grand Central Park site, developer MDM Group included plans for the new hotel, according to exMiami. And here they are. The form of the structure has been changed from rectangular with tentacle-like things swooping out to semi-circular with a hole in the middle, and is 'subject to change' again, since they aren't actually seeking approval for the building's design yet, just for zoning to allow the building, or something.

The current design kind of looks like a samurai sliced up a giant glassy version of the Fontainebleau. It has a large Atlantis-esque hole in the middle, and three levels of convention space below the hotel, containing exhibition areas, a ballroom, and a junior ballroom, all of which can be subdivided every which way. Oh, and there's a lecture hall. Then the hotel begins, with lobby and large outdoor pool deck areas, and 2000 rooms above.

Miami Worldcenter Officially Submits Plans To City For Review

The reps for Miami Worldcenter, the megaproject soon to fill the barren moonscape between the Metromover Omni Loop and the Metrorail with skyscrapers, sent over some renderings with an announcement that plans for the development's first phase have officially been submitted to the city for review. Now the design, by Elkus-Manfredi Architects has to go up for design review and then to the Planning Zoning & Appeals Board, with any required revisions being sent back to Worldcenter. Slowly, steadily, this behemoth of a project lurches forward.

^ Well this mega project has been 8 years in planning & acquiring the various individual properties to make this 27 acre project finally into reality. The retail portion is being developed by The Forbes Company and Taubman so obviously they feel comfortable enough to proceed despite whatever future market conditions are.

From the Miami Herald :

The plan maps the first 10-acre phase of what would eventually be a 27-acre mixed-use urban redevelopment project, one of the largest in the country, in the long-forlorn Park West district just north of the downtown core. The project is valued at around $1.5 billion.

Highlights include the first publicly available details on three mostly residential towers that will crown the retail center and share a nine-acre amenity deck 13 stories up. The towers, at 56 stories, 47 stories and 34 stories, will have 1,200 units “in a range of sizes and prices,’’

Worldcenter Adds Missing Piece Of Land, Begins Soil Testing

Soil testing is underway at The Mall At Miami Worldcenter site, a precursor to construction.

Mall developer The Forbes Company recently recently inked a deal to buy a 5,000 square foot lot at 717 NE 1 Ave from C&H Land Corp that had been missing from the assemblage. Plans for the mall already included the lot.

Developers have said that they intend to break ground by the end of the year

Miami World Center Signature Tower To Rise 749 Feet
By exMiami Staff on August 6, 2014

Miami World Center Associates submitted plans to the FAA last week for a residential tower called World Center Signature Tower.

If approved, it would rise 749 feet above sea level (738 feet above ground level) – the maximum permitted in the area.

It will be located at 129 NE 8th St, across from the NAP Center of the Americas and above The Mall At Miami Worldcenter.

Boston’s Elkus Manfredi is designing the tower, which will include 466 residential units.

City may build Miami Worldcenter parking

Ongoing talks could lead to a significant public-private partnership between the developers of Miami Worldcenter and the Miami Parking Authority.

If successful, it could mean thousands of new public parking spaces downtown.

Miami Worldcenter would replace more than 10 blocks of mostly vacant urban land with a mixed-use quilt of hotels, restaurants, stores, entertainment venues and more.

Until recently the developers had been dealing solely with officials from the city and Miami-Dade County on a multitude of issues, including zoning and land use.

When talk turned to parking needs, though, the parking authority was brought to the table.

The possibility of an agreement with the authority was mentioned Aug. 6 by its CEO Art Noriega, who told the Off-Street Parking Board he had “exciting news.”

Mr. Noriega said he’s been meeting with Nitin Motwani of Worldcenter, county finance officials including Deputy Mayor Edward Marquez, Miami Deputy City Manager Alice Bravo and others, and discussing what role the parking authority might play in the development.

Mr. Marquez, who also serves as county finance director, confirmed the talks but stressed they are in the early stages, and said he could not discuss any possible funding scenarios.

“We’re talking, yes,” said Mr. Marquez. “Worldcenter asked for participation from the city, county and the [Community Redevelopment Agency]…. Numbers were presented to us and we’re taking a look.… As to what the government participation could be and should be, it’s very preliminary.”

[...]

“We’re talking about 3,000 public spaces to the project, for the surrounding public and for visitors to the mall,” Mr. Schwartz told Miami Today.

Board Finally Approves Worldcenter Zoning Changes

http://i.imgur.com/3vixmlK.jpg

Zoning changes needed for the Miami Worldcenter project were unanimously approved by Miami’s Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board today.

Property owners and members of the public who attended the meeting spoke in favor of Worldcenter by a 10-1 margin.

The board had deferred a vote in June after hearing from a lobbyist Paul Savage, who represented the operators of Grand Central Park and Grand Central Lounge. Savage is also representing his clients in court contesting street closures for Worldcenter, which had been previously approved. That appeal has yet to be resolved.

The city of Miami commission will vote on the zoning changes along with a new Worldcenter development agreement next week.

Miami Worldcenter Plans a Nightlife Mecca, Streetcar Screw

OMG Zaha will just die when she finds out about this. One Thousand Museum, her architectural pantheon of a condo tower, will have a panoramic view of Miami Worldcenter, which according to Al Crespo is likely to be a real party city. Not exactly a rarified flower of luxury real estate, Miami Worldcenter is sounding like a bona-fide urban entertainment district in the heart of Downtown Miami. Crespo, must less impressed however, compares it to clubland just to the north. He points out that that Nitin Motwani, the general partner Worldcenter, is trying to get 25 liquor licenses from the City of Miami for the project, not including the many liquor licenses that will also go to restaurants, and that these 25 will have very little governmental insight.

In A Unanimous Vote, Commissioners Say Yes To Miami Worldcenter

Miami commissioners voted tonight to approve zoning modifications and a development agreement that will allow the Miami Worldcenter project to move forward.

Commissioners spent hours listening to public comment and debating the changes, which revised approvals granted to the developers project in 2008. The yes vote came only after last minute changes to language setting out hiring local requirements, along with clarifications to air rights and billboards within the Worldcenter area.

Several speakers at the meeting, including activist Brad Knoefler, mentioned exMiami’s report that the owners of Worldcenter intended to flip the land after gaining approval. Worldcenter managing director Nitin Motwani indirectly addressed the issue, saying that he was proud to be bringing in MDM Development, Taubman Centers and The Forbes Company to develop the project.

Individual pieces of the project, including MDM’s planned 1,800-room Marriott, will still need to gain separate approvals.

Miami commission approves downtown expo center, hotel

http://www.miamiherald.com/incoming/r2c9de/picture1831881/alternates/FREE_960/1s7r1q.So.56.jpeg

The Miami City Commission unanimously approved plans for a downtown convention center and 1,800-room hotel Thursday on the site of the old Miami Arena.

The commission’s approval of MDM Development’s $600 million Marriott Marquis Miami World Center clears an important hurdle for the developer, which can now pursue permits and tax rebates, and push to break ground before the end of the year. The privately financed project has been long-desired by downtown business boosters, who say a convention center will help flush businesses, restaurants and hotels with customers.

“This is symbolic of how we will now compete against the convention centers all over the nation,” said Commissioner Keon Hardemon.

Smaller convention centers, that is.

While the project, designed by Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates, includes 350,000 square feet of meeting space, larger gathering areas are limited to a 100,000-square-foot exhibit hall, a 60,000-square-foot ballroom, and a 40,000-square-foot junior ballroom, which are stacked in three tiers. That’s part of the reason Miami Beach officials, who are redeveloping their larger facility in South Beach, are welcoming the new convention space into downtown as complementary rather than competitive.

“It pales in comparison to the size of the Miami Beach Convention Center exhibit space, but for us it’s very large,” said architect Bruce Brosch.

MDM needed the commission’s approval for the project Thursday because the design violated certain aspects of Miami’s zoning code. Commissioners granted exemptions that allow the developer to build out the expo center over most of the 4.7-acre site, and allow the 54-story hotel to be built as designed atop the pedestal.

The developer now will look to negotiate with the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency for rebates from the property taxes it generates to help finance the convention center operations. Attorney Tony Recio said the rebates are “very important” for MDM.

Miami Worldcenter Teases Its Signature Tower, Paramount

Miami Worldcenter is thisclose to launching sales of its signature residential tower, Paramount, pulling a flashy teaser ad in Ocean Drive Magazine, as well as launching the building's website. Oh, and of course, exMiami says they are. Unfortunately, a scant few renderings have been made public (which really makes you wish city building department records would finally be digitized and put online so we could just look this shit up because technically it is public record over there) but they're about to pull the lid off the big reveal and show everyone what they've got.

Worldcenter unveils plan for first tower in Miami’s Park West
BY ANDRES VIGLUCCI
AVIGLUCCI@MIAMIHERALD.COM

The long-awaited, and at times controversial, Miami Worldcenter megaproject unveiled plans Wednesday for its first tower, a 470-unit, 60-story lux condo that would be embedded into the planned three-level shopping mall stretching across three and a half blocks in the old Park West district.

Its developer, Daniel Kodsi, says his Paramount Miami Worldcenter condo is further proof that the massive mixed-use project, first approved by the city as a special district nearly a decade ago, is a definite go, portending the revitalization of a long-derelict stretch of downtown. At the end of last year, the project’s master developers, Miami Worldcenter Associates, brought in major mall developers Forbes and Taubman to erect an upscale urban shopping center anchored by Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s.

A separate developer, meanwhile, hopes to start construction by the end of the year on a companion piece, an expo center and convention hotel on the adjacent site of the old Miami Arena, after purchasing the site from the Worldcenter group.

“We all know it went through its ups and downs, but given the obstacles they faced, what they’ve done is really fantastic,” Kodsi said of Worldcenter principals Art Falcone and Nitin Motwani, while acknowledging some public skepticism over whether the project would actually happen. “Since they signed Forbes and Taubman, it’s been full throttle. It took a little longer, but it’s done right.”

The planned tower’s design, by Boston-based Elkus Manfredi Architects, represents a distinct departure from the typical wrap-around balcony look of most of the dozens of luxury residential towers recently announced or under construction in Miami and Miami Beach. The swept-back glass tower, which features irregularly jutting balconies, is designed to signal that it’s not a beach condo, but an urban residential tower, Kodsi said.

Kodsi said he asked Elkus Manfredi, which designed the commercial podium at the Time Warner Center at New York’s Columbus Circle, to give the Miami tower’s street entrance a similarly pedestrian-friendly “urban’’ look and functionality, with the expectation that many residents would actually walk outside to nearby attractions. (The firm is also designing the Worldcenter mall.)

Miami Worldcenter Moving Forward After Approval

MIAMI—Now that the City of Miami has unanimously approved the zoning package and development agreement for Miami WorldCenter, plans are unfolding quickly. The $2 billion project’s master development team has announced an initial construction timeline for its first phase. Physical site work is expected to get underway in the first quarter of 2015 with vertical construction set to begin in mid-2015.

On the hotel front, Miami-based MDM Group will develop a new 54-story, 1,800-room JW Marriott Marquis hotel and expo center that will feature 600,000 square-feet of meeting and event space. Miami Worldcenter’s pedestrian-only promenade, including lifestyle and retail offerings, will connect the JW Marriott Marquis to main thoroughfares that lead to the bayfront to the east. MDM expects to begin construction on the hotel and expo center project in the first half of 2015.

Worldcenter megaproject set to start

Written by John Charles Robbins on December 10, 2014

Faded concrete lots in Miami’s Park West have taken on a new look as a billion-dollar mega project prepares to start construction with the dawn of the new year.

Miami Worldcenter, a multi-use development promising to turn 27 mostly barren acres into 10 blocks of condos, stores, entertainment venues and more, is at the starting gate.

Developers have announced a start within the first quarter of 2015 and plan to begin vertical construction midyear. In recent days, they’ve installed site wraps and signage bearing Worldcenter’s new branding and graphic design.

A key component is a towering 1,800-room Marriott hotel tied to a multi-storied convention center at the site of the former Miami Arena.

Billed as downtown Miami’s largest private development ever, Worldcenter is ultimately destined to bring $2 billion in investment to the urban core, the developers say.

Worldcenter is a collaboration of master developer Miami Worldcenter Associates and a team of development, design and engineering firms. The Forbes Co. and Taubman are to build a 765,000-square-foot shopping mall anchored by Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s.

Worldcenter’s first residential tower, the 466-unit Paramount Miami Worldcenter condominium, is expected to break ground in the second quarter of 2015. Overall, developers expect to build about 1,000 dwellings.

MDM Development Group is building the Marriott and expo center, to feature 600,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

Tony Recio, MDM representative, said they’re striving to be in the ground by Dec. 31 but that might not be possible.

“If not, we’re pushing for early next year to start – as soon as possible,” he told Miami Today this week.

MDM aims to open Miami World Expo Center in the winter of 2017-18.

Miami Worldcenter seeks public subsidies

Developers of the mixed-use Miami Worldcenter project are seeking public subsidies that could be worth tens of millions of dollars as they ready for phase one construction in the first quarter of 2015.

Worldcenter representatives met earlier this week with officials from the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency, according to the Miami Herald. Worldcenter is seeking subsidies for two of its projects: a mixed use residential/retail building in phase one and an adjacent Marriott Hotel and expo center in phase two.

The requested subsidies could bring between $85 million to $121 million to the project depending on whether the CRA is extended to 2030 or 2042, the paper reported. However, a group of local clergy is calling for the CRA to slow down negotiations to increase transparency.

Another Residential Tower Has Been Added To Worldcenter’s First Phase

http://i.imgur.com/pFJ5De7.jpg

A second residential tower is in the works at Miami Worldcenter.

The 45-story tower is simply called ‘Tower 1′ in plans recently submitted to Miami’s Planning Department. It will be located at the south entrance to The Mall at Miami Worldcenter, at NE 7th Street and NE 2nd Avenue.

At just under the 500-foot mark, Tower 1 will include 427 units and 209 parking spaces. There will be 12 units on each typical floor, with a total of 601,479 gross square feet.

It isn’t clear who will develop the tower, although Newgard Development’s Harvey Henrandez has said that he plans to build a residential project at Worldcenter.

Paramount at Miami Worldcenter is also included in Worldcenter’s first phase, which is set for review by Miami’s UDRB next week. Paramount will include 493-units in a 58-floor, 706-foot tower.

Construction on the first phase (which is separate from MDM’s Marrriott Miami World Expo Center) is planned to begin in the first quarter of 2015.

Miami Condo Project Looks to Lure Chinese Buyers

[...]

CIM Group owns more than two-thirds of the Worldcenter project. The development team expects to announce early next year the brand name of a hotel to be built by developer Harvey Hernandez ’s Newgard Development Group, a Miami-based company that also is planning a 250,000-square foot office tower at Miami Worldcenter.

“The Chinese are not 100% sure what Miami is. They don’t understand it yet,” said Peggy Fucci, chief executive of the brokerage OneWorld Properties, which is marketing the Paramount project at Miami Worldcenter. She said she has been traveling to China once every few months to hold presentations for brokers and potential buyers set up by personal financial advisers with high-net-worth clients.

“When Chinese buyers come to Miami, I want them to identify the city with this building.”

Miami commission OKs millions in subsidies to Worldcenter developers

Miami city commissioners on Monday easily approved a multi-year tax-rebate deal worth tens of millions of dollars for the giant Miami Worldcenter project, overriding complaints from a score of Overtown residents, labor officials and activists that the plan was rushed through.

The 5-0 vote came during a rare, middle-of-the-holidays meeting of the city commission, sitting as the board of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency, in a packed community room at Camillus House. The unusual timing was prompted by what the project’s developers say were pressing contractual and financial deadlines.

The subsidy package would kick back more than half the property taxes paid out to the redevelopment agency by the owners of the 10-block complex, which sits inside the CRA’s boundaries – or as much $88 million through the 12-year life of the deal. The CRA typically gets a big chunk of property taxes generated by new development inside its boundaries for the purpose of remedying blight, including by providing financial incentives to attract private developers.

In exchange, corporations managed by Miami World Center Holdings, LLC, and shopping center developer The Forbes Company agreed to pay higher wages and ensure their contractors and subcontractors hire up to one-third of their unskilled workers from Overtown and then around Miami and the county.

The tower, which will rise atop the Miami Worldcenter mall, launched sales in late November. To date, the project, which is being marketed by OneWorld Properties, has garnered reservations for more than 10 percent of its 472 condo units. That’s due in part to marketing trips to Brazil. Other trips — to Mexico, Colombia and China — are planned for the near future, with an eye toward Latin American and other foreign buyers in addition to domestic prospects, Kodsi said. Reservations will still need to be turned into contracts, and eventually closed sales, at the $400 million development that is slated to be completed in the summer of 2018.

Heading toward its goal of creating a soccer field on Paramount Miami Worldcenter’s ninth floor, the project’s developer just released the first rendering of the amenity, complete with players and spectators. Daniel Kodsi, developer of Paramount Miami Worldcenter, had unveiled plans to TRD for his 60-story project, which will include a soccer field, along with tennis courts, pools and a running course, all part of an outdoor sports complex on the condo tower’s ninth floor recreation deck. Twelve Balinese-style, two-story villas surrounded by pools and other water features will also occupy the same floor. Inside on the ninth floor, residents can work out in a fitness center or boxing studio or rock out in a “jam room,” which will have drums, guitars, a piano and a recording studio. The $400 million condo project, developed in partnership with Miami Worldcenter’s developers Nitin Motwani and Arthur Falcone, is slated to be completed in the summer of 2018. The $1.06-billion Miami Worldcenter, on 28 acres near downtown Miami, is being built by Suffolk Construction.

Worldcenter Sent Back For Another Commission Vote After Lawsuit Filed

Miami Worldcenter is going back before the the City of Miami Commission next week.

Commissioners will vote once again on the same development agreement that they approved back in September, at the request of Miami Worldcenter Holdings and mall developer The Forbes Company.

A lawsuit filed on December 22 by attorney Paul Savage on behalf of Grand Central Lounge alleges that proper procedures weren’t followed in the September vote. Savage and Grand Central claim that the public didn’t have a chance to review changes to the agreement prior to approval. They also argue that the variances granted under the agreement are not legal under city code.

Grand Central is operating on property owned by Miami Worldcenter. The nightclub signed a long term lease with a company owned in part by Brad Knoefler, who then sold the property to Worldcenter in 2012.

By voting again, the developers hope to shield themselves from the lawsuit filed by Savage, who has also managed to delay a Walmart in Midtown.

The first reading of the development agreement is scheduled for February 12, with a second reading to follow on February 26.

anybody have info on how/where it connects.......
does metromover connect to retail or condos ?

chris08876

Yeah there will be approximately 3 atops. It will connect to a mix of retail and hotel. Metrorail will connect to the condos. Although if they incorporate more mixed used on the eastern flank, than those 3 stops can accommodate everybody. Keep in mind though that all of the towers for this project have not been revealed. This is a work in progress. Residential is on the Western side of the lot for now along with a portion of the mall.

Yup, and many more towers to be revealed in the coming yearly quarters. This project is 20 million square feet; one of the largest outside of Hudson Yards. City Centre being another large one.

The emphasis has been on Paramount for now, but expect the future news to shift to other components. This mall in the complex will also be very large. Florida is actually getting some massive mall upgrades/expansions/projects. Aventura, than theres another one in Ft.Lauderdale along with this. Tampa may also see some expansion going along with their downtown plan (retail, commercial, residential and so on).

Miami should be getting much more of the spotlight, as it is booming with projects that make most outside of NYC seem tiny. Theres even a large scale development compromising of 20+ residential towers on the outskirts of Miami that is comparable to two times the units of NYC's Astoria Cove, only more spread out. Again, no one knows about it most likely.

Yea from what I've gathered its Biscayne Landing. Thing is, they are kinda stingy on the details. Like, I understand its a 10-20 year project, but they have the worst public press on the project. But in terms of towers, its numerous and its actually a very large project. One of the largest in Florida in terms of raw units of residential spread over towers that are 10-20 floors. You kinda have to go digging for the info on that project as its not as obvious as lets say city centre or world center.

In front of the Arena the Mall at World Center will go. It will be separated from the AA Arena by a block or so, but its the closest part of the complex to it. To the North of the Arena, there will be a park by the name of Museum Park and to the South Bayfront Park. The mall being directly to the West of AA arena.

In terms of the tracks, parking will be next to it, but part of the ABF track is elevated, with retail being concentrated on the bottom of the platform.

TIME TO DIG: After years of planning, what is billed by the developers as the largest construction project in Miami’s history is set to begin in four to five weeks. City commissioners last week gave final approval to an expansive development agreement for Miami Worldcenter that covers everything from local hiring requirements to landscaping and liquor licenses. Bounded by Northeast Sixth and 11th streets and by North Miami Avenue and Northeast Second Avenue, Worldcenter plans to turn more than 24 acres of mostly vacant lots into a prominent destination with residential, office, hotel, retail, restaurant and entertainment uses. Ryan Bailine, an attorney representing the developers, said the approval would mean the start of construction in four to five weeks.

Largest in the nation essentially next to Hudson Yards. Checking the twitter for the project, the optimism is monumental, much like the scope of this project and everything else that is going on in Miami-Dade.

Without A Subsidy, 1,800 Room Marriott Marquis World Convention Center Could Be Chopped In Half

http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/MDMWorldCenter.jpg

MDM Development Group’s plan to build a Marriott convention hotel on the former Miami Arena property could be cut in half without tax subsidies, the Herald reported.

The developer says that they need $115 million in tax rebates through 2042, or an inflation-adjusted equivalent of $60 million upfront. Without public money, MDM might build 1,000 hotel rooms and 200,000 square feet of meeting space, down from the 1,800 rooms and a 400,000 square foot convention center that was approved last year.

The rebate would be in addition to and separate from an $88 million subsidy that was recently approved for Miami Worldcenter. MDM is buying the Arena site from the developer of Worldcenter to build the Marriott Marquis World Convention Center.

If the Overtown CRA agrees, the agency could provide part of the tax rebates through 2030, when the CRA expires. The city of Miami would need to approve a higher tax payment and rebate to the CRA until 2030, and also guarantee a subsidy between 2030 and 2042.

Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado said that he would veto any city assistance to the developer.

In July and again in October of last year, MDM representatives had said that they planned to break ground on the project by the end of 2014.

Court Could Clear The Way For Worldcenter To Move Forward Next Week

http://i.imgur.com/n8tA1as.jpg

One of the last remaining obstacles to Miami Worldcenter could be resolved as soon as next week.

On Tuesday, a hearing has been scheduled in a lawsuit filed by Grand Central Lounge. The court could decide to throw out the case, which challenges Worldcenter’s development agreement with the city.

Paul Savage, an attorney representing Grand Central, filed the suit in December, which alleges that the public didn’t have enough time to review the agreement before it was approved in September.

After the lawsuit was filed, commissioners voted to approve the agreement for a second time in February, making certain that the public had time to review it. The city will now ask the court to throw out the suit, based on the new vote.

Savage received bad news a few weeks ago when another lawsuit that sought to impede Worldcenter was denied by an appellate court. In that suit, Brad Knoefler’s Omni Parkwest Redevelopment Association challenged street closures that the city had approved for Worldcenter.

Some observers have said that the lawsuits, which have been filed by entities controlled by Knoefler, Aramis Lorie and Mark Lesniak, are simply an attempt to gain a payout from Worldcenter’s developers.

If your refering to the rendering, the large one, its on World Center main site and its updated for March. Every month they update the main page, and the design changes slightly as it's going through the design process.

Mostly whats new are some plaza changes, some slight alterations to the window frames, facade, and corners. If you compare the two, you'll see the differences. If you want to get a good comparison, download both photos, using Windows 7 or 8, slide the photo viewer so it attached to the left side, the other photo to the right, and compare away.

On a side note, this goes to what I was saying about Nordstrom and how developers once they have a design in mind, and stick to it, often the change slight things with the tower or tower(s) but nothing to change its identity to the point of not recognizing it. Same thing applies here.

The metro station will be on the side. Not built directly to the base.

Well, is that approved?

Yes its approved. Right now just going through some litigation and final paperwork.
