[Raleigh-Durham International Airport Opens 2nd New Garage

2nd new parking deck
RDU's newest parking garage features 6,200 spaces located within walking distance of the 2 terminal buildings. Now just over 11,000 parking spaces are now located between the terminals A and C.

as parking decks go, it's nicely lit.

it almost looks like those apartments the Jetsons lived in with it's shape and what not.

Charlotte Douglas is getting ready to build a new parking deck the same size as the new one at RDU for 20% of the price...

It will be lit well, but it won't have the Jetson's motif....the Charlotte Airport Advisory Board did not think that it was wise to spend $80M on decorations for the parking deck....instead they are going to build a 4th Runway for $80M.

I do like the new parking deck at RDU...it is nice, especially the automated exits....that will save a lot of time waiting in line.

LOL@ this thread.

I may get bashed for this, but even though the topic of this thread is a joke to mankind, that is one nicely lit garage. Hopefully it will age well.

I saw it yesterday, for the first time since completed, and it looks really nice. I think that the entire parking deck(s) project has gone well enough so far, with a few bumps along the way, of course. Now, if we can improve the terminals and manage to bring some meaningful connections with other cities, it might help utilize all that extra space. EJohnson can tell us more, since he gets to see RDU more often :)

I think they should do more to make parking decks look nice. There are lots of ugly ones in Charlotte.

I don't know how the parking decks at Charlotte's airport look, but I do like the airport. RDU isn't as nice, but it does have sufficient and nice parking space. The new decks have done a lot to help RDU look and function better. Every time I had to visit RDU I only had good experiences, but I am sure there will be some people who may find faults, and that includes the actual design of the decks. Like Metroboi said, parking decks should look nice and I will add one more attribute: inviting, although I do not see myself going to RDU just to hang out at the parking deck.

New idea: Parking Deck Cafe :)
