Commerzbank Tower, Frankfurt aM:
http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=76&drawingID=25127

That's a nice drawing James but:
1. The fascade color is grey and not bright pink
2. The glass inlay on the triangle's corner is round not flat
3. The top of the building is also grey and not brown
4. The glass fascades in front of the gardens are only tilted a little bit not that much.

Just select the color and take a look on the color code - you'll see that it is a very bright tone of pink. :)

Oh, you are just picking. You could pick out any random diagram and might find a stray color. Could you find it with just your naked eye?

James Raymond
Jun 2, 2004, 1:40 AM
Anyway, I adjusted the diagram a little, so it is more accurate. What Jai-C was seeing was probably just from sharpening the drawing.:)

Jun 6, 2004, 9:11 PM
James, Your diagrams are freakin increadible, You've got some talent man!

The only one I have a few pointers on is The Freedom Tower, Overall it's a pretty good drawing but the cores need to be at least 3 times thicker, The hat truss needs to be more prominent and the building needs to be slightly wider, The cables could be a little more pronounced aswell... The office portion's roof should be at slightly less of a sloped angle and You may need to fill the lattice in with steel bracings and the windmills, Then put the observatory and cafe floors on top

Then it would be incredible

BTW - How did you like Indiana? :)

James Raymond
Jun 19, 2004, 7:19 PM
That'd be no problem, Midwesterner. Actually, I never made it to Indiana this summer (I've been there almost every summer since '97), but I got into some family disputes in Minnesota and just decided to head home. It's quite a long story and I'm still kind of mad about it.

However, I'd love to do the Aegon Center. I'll get to it sometime this week.:)

^I really like that one, now that we know what the building is going to look like. My only suffestion would be maybe to make a sunburst effect somewhere, and make it a little bit more silver.

Other than that, the detail is just amazing, James!

BTW, I still haven't figured out how to layer. I just drawing everything at once.

James Raymond
Jul 1, 2004, 4:08 AM
I've found it to be quite easy, Lilton. I'm using Fireworks, but that's an expensive program, so it's not too typical for the average computer owner to have it (my mother does web design). However, I believe Paintshop Pro has layering. Just try messing with it and see how you do. It took me about an hour or so.:)

James, you're drawing for the proposed waterview tower in chicago is nice, but it needs some changing. the tower has gone through a slight height increase, it will now stand 85 floors high, 1,018' to the roof/1,030' to the tip of the finials.

also, the drawing of the tower is much, much too wide even given the fact that it is drawn from an angled perspective. the piece of land that this tower is going to sit on is only about 100'x100'. this tower is going to be very tall and slender.

considering that you are one fo the better illustrators around, if you could find time to make a new drawing for the diagrams, that would be super-cool!

james, that looks great, thanks for putting it together, but what you have drawn looks like the western facade. the tower sits on the southern bank of the main branch of the chicago river, so the the side of the tower that is flush with the base of the building faces north, which would make the elevation that you have drawn the western facade.

What is the filesize of the 1:10 PNG version? Do you have the 10:1 in another format (like PSD or CDR)?
