I like how the building on Central Palza answers the curves of the buildings on the opposite side. The opposite side is more monumental though.
I like the Rogier Tower.
Do you have any details on it ?
(architect, gross area, expected completion date ...)

It's actually a shame that the cladding hides the beautiful structure behind.
I wish it had been semi-transparent.
I bet hope that the concrete columns will be visible at night, when the building is lit from within.

The problem with U/C buildings in BXL is that , it is almost impossible to find information on the internet or at the local developper.
You always get the same reply : for what purpose do you need it ?
When responding that it serves for a better knowledgement for certain people who are interested in architecture they just lift up their shoulders and wish you a lovely day...

Are they afraid of nimbies ?
Maybe you should pretend you are a potential tenant and you need specific information.
Grumpy

No there are not afraid of NIMBY's.
In Belgium things like these are something odd , they are so suspicious when it comes to give answers .
A local bad attitude.
to give you an example:
For saturday the 17th of this month I try to visit some towers in BXL to take pictures from their rooftops with a few guys from a Belgian forum.
The first Q they ask is why in earth's name you want to take pictures !!
Who is interested in that ??
When asking for specific information they need to know who and what you are + for which purpose it is too.
I am always giving them straight answers hoping to get some phone number or an internetlink.
The only answer I get is : we may not do that , not giving a particulary reason either.
Sometimes it is depressing but I keep my fingers :fc:
I have hope & patience

It's an abandonned project, right ?
It would have been nice.
It is but at the Place Gaucheret -at the most northern tip of the Espace Nord- there is still a vacant piece of land where the Zenith Tower should be built in the future.
Rumours say this tower could be built over there.
On this lot the tallest building of the entire district is going to be built but how it is going to look is still unknown
I got lucky a few days ago : I have the permission to take pictures from the rooftops of the MadouTower & the Sheraton Towers !!

I don't know if I really like the new facade of Tour des Finances. But then again, I also liked the old cladding of Midi, Madou and Botanic (I also like Astro's golden facade). Nice photos and updates!

International competition for an urban landmark combining living and office spaces
Given its emplacement along an important entry of the city, the project becomes an urban landmark.
It is divided in two major parts: offices and apartments on the higher level, and shops, bars and restaurants on the lower level, articulated by a ‘void’.
The aim is to combine two scales: the city (urban scale) and the neighbourhood (human scale).
Urban scale:
Shaped by two towers with different heights.
The facades are generated as structural and aesthetic elements, which repeat the pattern of crossing lines visible on the ground plans. These create continuity between vertical and horizontal parts of the building, as well as developing links with the industrial character of the site. The offices have got a clear entrance from the main street, and the apartments are given breathtaking views over the canal. All levels have been designed as a flexible floor plan, in order to allow various layouts and arrangements.
Human scale:
Engendered through public spaces on the ground floor(shops) and the first floor (esplanade with pavilions) of the building, thus allowing different festivities and cultural events. The patios of the offices allow light penetration and vertical perspectives through the building.
The building’s ground floor is sliced across by several breaches, allowing numerous framed perspectives, from the street to the canal.

The night view makes them look taller.
I don't know what to think, but I don't like the idea of human scale. Ususally, it's just a bad excuse for mediocre plans. I hope this one won't be.

Public transport and the railways system will have to absorb most of the growing demand for national and international mobility. As a result, a number of modifications are necessary to the rail infrastructure in and around the Brussels Region.
In 2010 the current North-South link will be completely saturated. The explosion in international rail traffic and the expansion of the regional express network (RER) necessitate the expansion of the Eastern and Western Circular Railway. Many trains will traverse Brussels on the Eastern and Western Circular Railway, which means they will not call at any existing Brussels stations. A large new train terminal will be constructed to the north of the Brussels quadrangle and to the south of the L25-L36 fork, to absorb these trains.
Two possible sites are being examined by Eurostation: Schaerbeek Formation and Schaerbeek Voyageurs.
This terminal will have to be developed as a bipolar project, linked to Zaventem Airport, equipped with check-in facilities and reception infrastructure and must meet the same requirements indispensable for a modern airport terminal in terms of efficiency, comfort and service.
This will secure Zaventem Airport a place in the heart of the European rail network. This terminal must also be developed as an interchange for public transport, chiefly high-speed trains, national trains, RER trains, trams and busses.
A terminal can be built at both Schaerbeek Formation and Schaerbeek Voyageurs. The preference of the Brussels Region lies with Schaerbeek Voyageurs. This project is tied in with the expansion of a new European district, along the canal between Brussels North and Schaerbeek Voyageurs.
This will secure Zaventem Airport a place in the heart of the European rail network. This terminal must also be developed as an interchange for public transport, chiefly high-speed trains, national trains, RER trains, trams and busses.
Much like Roissy-CDG.
That's a good idea !

Will it be that colorful ?
Interesting.
Awesome Pics Grumpy.
Like to see my working area from that angle. I am just wondering how you did manage to get up there...
Have you also noticed the core of "Tour des Finances" is being dismantled. It is now clearly visible from ground level.
Thanks again for these shots.

Windows are being installed from the top down. That's unusual.
That's because they are dismantling the core.
Where will that Zenith tower be built Grumpy?
Great pics Grumpy!
Why is the trainstation called Bruxelles-Midi in French and Brussel-Zuid in Flemmish?

On the Square de Gauchetière between Ellipse & TBR where the Aéroballoon from Belgacom used to be, at the end of the Avenue Albert II
There is however no news from the Héliport project situated after WTC 3
