I'd have to say that The Legacy is stunning because I was literally "stunned" when I saw Solar's first pic. Well done.

It seems to have humanistic features (IE, the jaws), so perhaps it's a reference to the working conditions of the packers, in which case the brutality is warranted.

is that a bronze pig about to be chained up and slaughtered? if so, i'd say that's quite a disturbing piece of public art. i mean i know we're supposed to reflect on our past, but that MAY be taking things a little too far.

The sculptor is Chen Wenling. The pig isn't being slaughtered so much as ravished in a big orgiastic human/pig greedfest.

From the Beijing Asia Arts Center website (not the greatest Chinese-to-English translation, but still...):

"It could be said that Chen's art is strongly neo-realistic. He sensitively perceives the hedonism growing in the society at the age of rapidly swelling consumerism. An artistic language to express, reveal and criticise this worldly reality is what he seeks and he finally finds his channel of expression by resorting to the "biological being" common to both man and animal. His works first present man at the state of certain ecstasy and glee, exposing the true nature of material desire in an ultimately egoistic phase, which can also be regarded as an artistic magnification of scenes from the material life. In many of his works, he juxtaposes the features of man and animal in one sculpture, thus depicts the situation when the demarcation between man and animal or human behaviours and animal behaviours disappears. In terms of the mental state of sculptures, the expression on the face of a man is as simple and obsessed as an animal, whereas the animals are given man-like mental states and desires. No matter man or animal, they all appear to be in a deviated state of mind, happy and stimulated. The juxtaposition of "personification" and "hypostatization" is a method acquired by Chen in his exploration of art. He adopts this method nonstop in his series of works so that it multiplies and gains more value, forming a developing momentum propelled by a self-sufficient driving power within."

the windows have been at that level for at least 2 months. that can't possibly be on schedule.

No actually the riverside park is taking forever to finish up, not just the top.

Are you talking about the Legacy? Because the windows aren't stalled. When you look at all the pictures on this very forum, they've probably finished 10 floors or so in last 3-4 weeks. That's slow, not stalled.

I've been nagging the sales office pretty consistently since January, and they still claim an initial delivery date of Sept/Oct 2009 for the lower floors (exluding units 4 and 5 because of some freight elevator situation or other).

as much as i've been opposed to this building... it looks pretty slick against the grey skies of today, from the millennium park.

I just hope that, when it's complete, the city will have gotten this blue mirrored glass kick out of its system.

It seems the first half of the curtain wall was very fast, now the second half is taking forever. I'm glad this one did not stall.

Haha, Don't knock the blue mirrored glass on this one it turned out way better looking than the renderings. I'll agree for the future though..

actually the windows haven't been stuck there for 2 months. they've added about 9 floors worth in that time.

I believe that the top of Trump Tower is done, but they've been washing the windows. I'd heard there was an issue up there before with incorrect measurements of track if I'm not mistaken. I don't know if that's been resolved or not. I believe it's been the plan that the park/plaza would be completed by late summer or early fall.
