It seems like this issue surfaces every couple of years with a sense of urgency, but progress is so sloooooow. Flood channel needs to be dredged from the Ithaca Voice:

Very nice story about the history of airplanes in Ithaca (there's a happy ending too).

I was in Ithaca for the first time in two years last weekend for the Cayuga Sound Festival. I was thoroughly impressed with the continued construction downtown. There were lots of new residential units and buildings downtown, which might by why there seemed to be less vacancies fronting Ithaca Commons then I remember.

Another interesting observation, I saw deer roaming along the sidewalks of East Buffalo Street. They didn't seem to mind my presence when I walked out to my car Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I didn't get to make it to Ithaca Bakery this trip. Maybe next time.

Hopefully you can make to the Bakery next time.....too good to miss. Might as well hit up Purity Ice Cream down the street too.

Did you have a chance to visit the Collegetown neighborhood? Lots of changes there recently.

I was only briefly in Collegetown (despite staying a few blocks down on East Buffalo Street). I did take note that several of the large mixed use developments that were under construction the last time I was there, were completed. Hopefully, I will have more time to explore on my next visit.

I grew up in Collegetown. Lived in one of the small apartment houses on East Buffalo (near the top at Eddy Street). The changes since I left in 1969 are unreal. It was a fun place to live.
