EURO VEGAS | Development Thread

I'm surprised that there isn't a development thread for EuroVegas so far, considering that it is one of the largest developments on the planet with a total investment of approx. €17bn (US-$ 22.7 bn)!

It will be developed and built by the Sands Corporation in Alcorcón, 15km (10miles) southwest of Madrid and will include 12 hotels and 6 casinos.

Location: Alcorcón, Comunidad de Madrid, Spain
Location on Google Maps: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=40.37...42272&t=h&z=16
Investment: €17 bn (US-$ 22.7 bn)
Developer: Sands Corporation

Renderings:

These are only concept renderings so far (with the sole exception of the 'M Hotel', which will be the tallest building in the continental EU). They also only show phase 1 of 3.

Hmmm, weird.

EuroTack

I love the way that it doesn't even attempt to hide the fact that it deliberately rips-off Las Vegas and New York.

I guess the Chicago skyline made its way to Spain somehow

Well, it is being built by Sands corporation. They have a street named after them in Vegas and are one of the big companies that built Vegas.

Interesting...

I mean it looks interesting but at a 22.7 billion price tag I have serious doubts this will go anywhere.

Looks badly wrong... Who's got faith in the gambling industry?

Yeah! we had some undeniable Eurotrash trend already, then here would come something else.

A. should this not probably be in the General Developments section, since it's a single development...whether or not that single development is to build a standalone, speculative Sin-City facsimile. Moderators?

...and B. really? How can Spain, or the currently-in-fiscal-shambles Eurozone for that matter, even entertain projects that would be bold by Dubai's standards? I mean some of it is awesome (though I'm not loving the Times square knock-off, even Vegas' NYNY resort is a loose adaptation), but I doubt now is the right time. :sly:

Old news. This is billionaire Sheldon Andelson's, owner of the Venetian, project.

Uhh, you're saying that the most tacky, copy-paste architecture city in the world (Las Vegas) shouldn't be duplicated?
These are not supposed to be real. They are Disney World for adults.
If anything, it will be better than the American LV because it will be new and fresh and pre-planned based on Las Vegas' history of feast or famine.

Well Las Vegas rips off New York
