This structure, for various reasons, has taken a while to rise but it is finally on the way to making it's mark on the Upper Kirby area. See several articles spanning the history of the project on the website's news section.

Construction photos will follow...

I like the looks of this building. The site is very narrow so the sleek glass/steel combo is a perfect fit.

Best thing is that this is being built across the street from West Ave (mixed-use) and residents will be able to WALK to plenty of shopping (including a Whole Foods), restaurants, and bars.

That's a good thing because Kirby @ Westheimer is already a mess!

It's funny to see West Ave. and this building at rising about the same number of levels, just across the street from each other.

I'm aware that 2727 probably took longer as in addition to some financing issues, it also requires some different approaches to engineering as there is a parking structure within the base. The good news is that it seems they will be done with the parking component relatively soon and the rest of the building should rise a bit quicker from that point.

Good to see it rise. I really like this one also. Nice modern, sleek design and I like the colors.

Glad to see Houston with some action in the works...wish San Antonio could get some nicely designed buildings like that. Not overwheelmingly tall, but thin, shiney, and tasteful.

Complex01 Dec 4, 2007 3:02 PM

It will stand out in the area thats for sure. It is a nice building...

Crafty bastards.

Very nice looking tower though

Nowhere would kinda be off. It's within the Upper Kirby district and not too far from Montrose/Neartown. In Xeelee's photo below, it is the construction off to the right, across Kirby from two buildings that are part of the West Ave. site

I'm pretty sure J.Dskyhigh was making a joke about the rendering.

Obviously, but it does help to put a frame of reference of the location to people that aren't familiar with the area.

Nah, I knew what ya meant and its cool... I just thought it looked odd myself just skimming back through the thread again.

Anyway, here's a few photos I took Sunday afternoon. Looks like they might have finally finished up the parking garage inside the base of the building so the floors should start appearing faster now
