Ahh! You're my hero for today!

Talk about a ton of banks. I guess it is a wealthy area :P

mersar May 11, 2009 12:11 AM

The number of banks isn't surprising, the closest banks are at Westhills or east of Sarcee, so considering how many thousands of people live in that area they are probably needed.

Yume-sama May 11, 2009 12:24 AM

I suppose. But isn't there already a Scotiabank down the street by the ATB Financial?

They're starting to sprout up about as much as Starbucks :P Which, I'll be surprised if there is only one in the complex.... and not one inside Safeway, and one standalone.

I just can't wait for Thai Tai. I've been going all the way to Deerfoot Meadows for it!

Are there any maps / overheads of the area showing where everything is going? Because, honestly, it doesn't look like that big of an area to fit all this!

By the way... during my search I found that Marble Slab is opening up, too, in both Westhills and Aspen Landing.

That's too bad; I'd rather see the Gelato place succeed. Two ice cream shops is way too many. That puts the Gelato place at risk. I'm not a big fan of the Marble Slab either; just way, way too expensive. What is it now, $6 for a single cone? I could buy a whole gallon of smarties ice cream for that, rather than paying someone to smash smarties into a single cone.

Yume-sama May 11, 2009 2:01 AM

Yeah, that was the first thing I thought. Gelato place won't be around very long.

Near the end is a decent overhead, but no sign of tenants. (I guess they weren't finalized by the submission)

Isn't there a Thai Tai on 17th Ave? :sly:

There is, I've been to all of them. And that one is known as "the bad Thai Tai" in my books.

I have such high hopes for this one!

Less food, more retail :P

I think I mentioned this in the main construction thread; Crossiron Mills has at least one tenant with a first week of August opening date. Let the Balzarium arise!

Less clothes, more electronics. I'm tired of going to Deerfoot Meadows. A gun store would be nice too, Wholesale Sports is there too.

Aeropostale going into Chinook

Taking over the former "RnR" store on the 2nd floor, Aeropostale's first Calgary store opens in Chinook this summer. It will be packed until people realize the quality is equal to (or possibly worse) than Wal-Mart. Just like Old Navy duds were once status items. Meh.

Bath & Body Works in Calgary

FYI, Chinook Centre, Market Mall and CrossIron Mills are all opening Bath & Body Works shops this summer.

Zilla May 11, 2009 6:39 PM

The magazine store With The Times, displaced from Mission last year due to demolition, will be re-opening next to the Good Earth that is being renovated on 11th Avenue and 15th Street SW. Looks like it will be open soon.

And H&M, for that matter. That place is basically white trash central.

Yeah, we're extremely excited about that one. While it may look like yet another Body Shop/etc clone, BBW actually doesn't make me want to vomit from overpowering fragrance just walking past. Plus, they actually have a lot of decent stuff, even fragrance free stuff.

Yeehaw! Pack up the pickup truck Susy Bob!

Anyone know what will be going in the Chinook expansion? All I've heard is that it will be "upper class" but then I heard Aldo will be going in so that made me skeptical. :koko:

It's crap. Bath and Body Works is to Body Shop what Gloria Jean's is (was?) to Starbucks: They'd open in malls that were too redneck or poor or generally shitty for Body Shop to consider. They're welfare Body Shop. Of course Canadians who don't know any better will flock to it like flies to shit.

Why "white trash"? Nonwhites don't shop there?
