Does anyone have any photos of the demolition of this 526' tower or know where I could find some?

this is the only image i have of it, it's obviously not a demolition shot, but it's all i got.

at 526', morrison hotel is the second tallest skyscraper in the world ever to be voluntarily demolished, NYC's singer building being #1 in that category.

I dont see what was so great about this building, not even worthy to compare to the Singer, besides the Chase Tower makes a much more excellent feature to the modern day Chicago Skyline.

Not that I hate the Chase building....for some odd reason I like it....but I really wish this one was still standing. Love the massing and form. Wasn't there supposed to be another tower built onto the corner of this?

what is the name of the building with the gothic spire on the last pic?

i do not know the name of the building, as i believe it goes by a church name. if i am not mistaken, it holds some kind of record for tallest church steeple in the u.s. or world, or at least it once did.

this building was a dank pos. and architectural insignificant. and the c.f. murphy chase tower is a master piece. no real loss here.

That concrete slab is what replaced it? How horrible. The Chase tower there looks like a nightmare.

it's not a concrete slab, it's actually glad in granite, and it's a remarkable structure in my opinion, far more interesting than the old morrision hotel it replaced. the way that the tower swoops up into the sky creates some really fascinating illusions of the tower curling up and over you when you stand at its base. the redevelopment also included one of the most used and beloved lunch time plazas in the entire loop, along with Chagall's magnificent "four seasons" mosiac, one of chicago's many exquisite pieces of high quality public art found throughout downtown.

chase tower is really an under-appreciated modern gem in my opinion. and it also holds the distinction of being the tallest building in the loop proper (within the L tracks) since its completion in '68.

^^^ Totally agree, its probably in my top 5 or so 500'+ buildings in the Chicago...

That's the old Federal Building replaced by Mies Van der Rohe's current Federal Center complex.

It looks gritty and beautiful to me.

This is the most illusive 500 footer in Chicago. I have never seen a good photo of it, only distant shots and rendered postcards. Here is a photo of the Madison Street entry from the Jazz Age Chicago website...
