A beautiful spring day from atop the State House in Annapolis, MD

Annapolis is the capital city of Maryland. It is also home to the United States Naval Academy and St. John's College. It is a historic, colonial, port town with many narrow, brick-lined streets. It's a beautiful, quaint city home to roughly 40,000 people. I recently had the opportunity to be an intern for the Maryland General Assembly, so here are some pictures. Although it is March, it was sunny and had temperatures as high as 70F. I'm not a photographer, but I tried my best. Enjoy!

Annapolis looks like a great place. Hopefully someday soon it will be connected by commuter rail to both DC and Baltimore.

I want to visit Annapolis one day, looks like a interesting city to visit. I have to make it a priority the next time I'm on the east coast. Thanks for sharing.

It won't be commuter rail. Rails never really existed between DC and Annapolis, and the former rails between Annapolis and Baltimore (besides missing the bridge over the Severn River) are part bike/ped trail (the Baltimore and Annapolis Trail) and part LRT (south end of the Baltimore Light Rail line to Glen Burnie).

Maybe someday you could get an extension of the LRT down to Annapolis, but that's the only way you could feasibly get rail transit down there.

Yes, it is cutesy, very. It's also quite trendy with expensive boutiques, one-of-a-kind neat, little restaurants, and up-and-coming, colourful neighbourhoods.

In the summer, it's one of my favourite places to be and I feel so lucky that the State Legislature chose me to be given the opportunity to live here for the duration of session.

Europe!

Nice pictures. I'm in Annapolis a few times a year but I've never seen the city from the capital's dome.

That was a very cool thread of a beautiful little capital city. Great photos! Thanks for sharing.

It isn't open to the public. Luckily one of my friends is a Maryland Capitol Police officer. To go to the top, you need an escort from either capitol police or state police. It was very nice up there! (Steps were dreadful and sunk in when stepped on though!)

Very much so. Many of the streets were designed to be just like European cities.

Awesome town, nice shots. I remember xzmattzx's Annapolis thread from a while back and wanted to see more.
