Currently occupied by a 1-storey LCBO (constructed & approved in 2009 with an agreement with the City that a proposal for a substantially more intense use would follow in the future). LCBO will be a tenant in the new building. The subject property also contains a heritage-listed building (which appears to be a part of the facade for the new structure).

King West is just getting more and more chic. Awesome project, and no doubt a perfect fit with the 'hood that is developing here.

Beautiful, much improved design. This project is still very preliminary but will be worth the wait in the end.

The new design changes are pure mindlessness. Random appropriation of popular "modern" styles.

I like how they managed to make the 2 towers feel like 2 different towers, but yet still distinctly part of the same building, through the mixing of the 2 facade treatments on the large base. if curtainwall is used on the taller tower (unlikely) this could turn out to be quite nice.

The older design had a superior vernacular program. The proportions complimented the surrounding warehouse buildings in the 'nabe.
Although I do prefer the twin tower massing plan of the new design. I admit that I'd probably like the new design more if I didn't see the old render in the first place. |
The mid-rise on the corner is much better than that boring glass tower to its east.

While I think theres too much modern design going up in the city (would prefer a few more traditional/po-mo designs to add diversity) I find the setbacks of both these buildings to be ideal. The materials on the podium could look sharp if executed right. As DrNest said can't go wrong with this awesome density. Great stuff.
