Let me throw some names out there that I think would be good at a festival such as this:

Death Cab for Cutie
M.I.A.
Jack Johnson
Radiohead
The Bravery

Anyone care to add to the list?

I am disappointed with the artists at the festivals this year, both v-fest and sled island. I will probably end up going to the flaming lips, but 75 bucks for that seems stupid.
Hopefully the folk fest attracts some great acts this year.

I would LOVE to see radiohead live

How about Wilco?

The line up is good, except for the headliners!

I second Radiohead. I saw them at Madison Square Garden on their last tour. Best show I've ever seen. It was unbelievably awesome.

Stone Temple Pilots, they're elegant bachelors, they're foxy to me, are they foxy to you?

Actually that line makes me depressed that we're not getting Stephen Malkmus...

But hey, FLAMING LIPS!!!

I saw Arcade Fire in Saskatoon on the last tour, it was just as good as you'd expect, plus 10.
I also saw Broken Social Scene there, at Amigo's, which is a relatively small mexican resto by day, music venue by night. The band (all 12 of them or whatever) had to come on stage one at a time, set up their equiptment, and stand there while the next person came on and set up, becasue of lack of back-stage and square-footage on stage. Great show.

Best show I've seen over all was Feist and BSS at the Folk Fest 2 years ago. I know Furry was there too.

I have a couple friends in Islands they are heading to town this summer, along with Wolf Parade, possibly on the same bill.

Pavement might yet reunitie for Lalapalooza, which inspired that song. By the way, the Smashing Pumkins are also not playing here, which fine by me because they don't have no function; I don't understand what they mean and I could really give a fuck.

I saw the Pumpkins in Saskatoon (Along with Foo Fighters, Sum 41 and Our lady Peace) in 2001 (Summersault Tour), and they were awesome! They don't play any of their old stuff now do they?

dreamin' dream dream dream dream dream dream....

Jeff, that BSS/Feist show was as close to religious ecstasy and I have ever come- the only experience that matched the BSS second encore was when I was at a Talking Heads show in college (this was the tour that was filmed for Stop Making Sense), when Tom Tom Club took over and did Genius of Love. Time stood still.

First of all, they should fire their web designer and press release writer.... buckaroos? rickety wagon and a flying cow? "Hey lets insult a city's intelligence then hope they rush to pay us $125".... lame
Tool, Radiohead, RATM, then I'm there ;)

Ayreonaut Apr 9, 2008 12:10 AM

Most bands I want to see never come to Canada outside Quebec.

Edguy
Nightwish (They are actually coming)
Gotthard
Porcupine Tree

A Star One show would make my LIFE.

It's not a band but a project by Arjen Lucassen, the genius behind Ayreon, and my username.

Well, Wolf Parade opened for Arcade Fire when I saw them in Sask. By the time AF got around to touring Canada I was far more excted about Wolf Parade than the headliner, this was maybe 3 or 4 days after Apologies came out, which has been my favourite, favourite album, period, since the day I first heard it.

I agree on all counts. Particularly about the web design and press release. Obviously the people involved in organizing this thing have no connection to or understanding of our city. Fuckin' insulting.
