This will be built on the site of what could have been Montreal's next tallest. I mean, i like the project, but this one should of been taller.

Yes I agree! There's still hope for the remaining lot to go 50-60 stories (the lot is divided in 2). We'll see how it plays out.

I could have seen these further down Rene-Levesque (maybe where the Hotel Espresso is on the corner of Guy, or maybe further east, in the empty lot at the corner of Saint-Laurent in Chinatown)

There is a project on the "ilôt Overdale". The downtown skyline is definitely moving westward. It was a matter of time and this time seems to be now.

The wood structure is up to put the announcing sign for this project

They're growing on me. I wonder what market segment they are targeting?

Rico Rommheim Apr 9, 2012 1:14 AM

They are nice looking towers, I like 2 floors of commercial space on street level. The height notwithstanding, this project is a win, especially if the nearby Icone and Drummond towers go up.

Judging from the rendering they look to be of good quality. Far superior to any residential development south of the Gardiner in Toronto.

flight_from_kamakura Apr 9, 2012 5:09 PM

man, that part of toronto is just a sea of towers these days, i'd love it if concord pacific got into the montreal market, say around the old chaboillez square and the dow planetarium.

Whaaaaaaaat???? Two towers of 25? What in the hell happened to the double 37 floors?

And Luc Poirier? Why was he even mentioned?

Oh this is really bad, Montreal's prime real estate lot, ruined by two short towers and Luc Poirier :(

Rico Rommheim Apr 15, 2012 6:50 PM

How dare they, this is a travesty. First, 37 floors was already too small for a spot like that, now we have 25 floors. Inevitably in Montreal, the finished height is always a couple floors lower than what was announced. So we're looking at a couple 20 something floor condos on what was poised to be the spot for Montreal's next tallest building. This is egregious.

No you don't. Trust me, you never want to give one developer a huge track of land to work with.

The source is all wrong. It's still 37 (or 35 if we are to trust the render). The error comes from an article full of mistakes in Les Affaires.

Bah! ok thanks. Bleedin' journalists and their lackluster knowledge of urban affairs! They ought to visit SSP some time!

Seems a little pricey!
