Ha! I half-expected the servers for the forums to go down when the first pictures of cladding were posted here. Thanks for the pictures, SkyscrapersOfNewYork.

Already it shines. I think this tower is going to look a lot better than a lot of people have given it credit for... |
It's like Christmas with all these pictures. Superb shots everyone! :slob: :slob:

As more cladding is put up, potential tenants will want to definitely have a stake in one of the four WTC buildings. Sooner or later we could be seeing tenants signing up for Tower's 2 or 3. Conde Nast already has a stake in one million square feet of Tower 1. ;) Its only a matter of time. - Cheers! :notacrook:

oh no! i see distortion in the glass! :ahhh:
the shadowy side looks more distorted than i originally hoped for, but the bright side shows a good reflection and tint so i still have hope. the stainless steel looks too good to be real though  |

^^^ Looks we each need to head to the site and have a closer look. Cameras produce exaggerated elements you know. :P
Now that the question of "when cladding will start" has been answered, the next question we should ask is when will the first set of office floor windows (towards the middle of the outer skin of the building) be installed? :jester: :) |
Even The Shard has distortion in its glass. There's no way around it. But truly high quality glass shows distortion at very few angles, which seems to be the case here. The glass looks as even and mirror-like as any glass in the world when you're not looking at it head-on.

When will we see glass cladding in the middle of the corners. ;)
|
Oh wow. I like what I see. I think this tower is really going to sparkle.
|
wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the most photographed glass panel ever .... seeing this in real is amazing..... this will be the most photographed building ever as well as the most popular building world wide.... eat your heart out BD
|
Just the first panel and already looks impressive. Any estimates as to how many panels eventually will be installed?
|
hmmm i kind of assumed the panels would be 2 or even 3 floors in height, not just one. ahhhh well, looks good
|
This panel of glass is probably the most talked about panel of glass on all the internet ever. Seriously, who else other than skyscraper fans would get so excited about a panel of glass? Hell, if all the people on SSP and SSC were in one town, we would have to call together a giant rave for this glass.
|
I think that they should have the office space go all the way to right under the observatory, it's hard to believe they really need that much mechanical space plus they would be able to have more room for potential tenants.
Definitely in their best interest. |
